About me

Hello there! I'm Broden, I am a DM who as a kid always dreamed of stumbling my way through a magic wardrobe or fighting off a band of orcs. I grew up loving fantasy and all the wonder and possibility it could bring. When I was introduced to D&D, I immediately fell in love with the game and the freedom and options it brought. D&D for me is that magic wardrobe. What I want to bring is that chance for you to step into a magical world. I as a DM put together a homebrew world that I run all my games in. If you are looking for something a little different but still familiar and easy for your characters fit in I think you might just like what I've got for you.

Character creation

Creating your character

All characters will be made over a Free session 0. At the start of the game your character must have a reason to want to see the end of the mist haunting Eletheros, and a story as to why you are currently captive aboard a bandit run barge on the river. If your coming into the campaign after session 1 you will need to work with the DM on who your character is and where they come from and where they want to be. Characters will be made using Point Buy, and due to the setting being a low magic (there is magic but it holds more mystery than understanding) there will be a limit of no Artificers, and 1 caster class each. For example there can be a wizard, warlock, druid and sorcerer but there cant be two wizards. Each Character will Start with only the Items gained by their Background and nothing else. Each player will have to search out the world to find the equipment they might need in the coming adventures. At Session 1 you will be starting out as captives of a group of bandits. After session one a budget might be allowed to have some equipment equal to the rest of the party.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need access to Discord, and Roll20. Character sheets will be tracked on Roll20 but if players wish to use DnD Beyond they will need to keep the Roll 20 copy up to date, and use a browser app called Beyond 20 to roll in the VTT.

What Broden Ray brings to the table

I both improvise and prepare locations in the game there will be maps and sometimes it will be up to the players to track their location. I will do NPC voices but the players are welcome to Roll Play their character to the comfort and fun they enjoy. I use a bot in discord to play music and ambient sound, you are welcome to mute it and modify its volume personally if you wish.

Homebrew rules

I often discuss my Homebrew rules at session 0 and let players decide on what they want in the game, but this is a Homebrew setting so expect homebrew monsters and items. I usually do rules like BA potion drinking and max damage + rolled damage for crits.

Safety

How Broden Ray creates a safe table

I use X, N, & O cards on Roll 20, which means any time a player doesn't like whats going on they can place the X card on the virtual table and the game will pause and the player can talk to the party or the DM privately depending on the content and comfort of the player, and explain why the current roll play is not welcome or uncomfortable. I also do not allow Sexual content in my games, if you wish to woo hoo someone or something keep it in the head and we will fade to black.
