About the adventure
Reminiscent of the popular trend of 'The Backrooms', with themes influenced by the shared universe of the SCP Foundation. Action Gifs: https://imgur.com/a/3Smvxyo There is a place things go when they are forgotten, somewhere people end up when they become lost to the world; a deep crevice where permanence takes a new meaning. The BoS has set their sights on this abandoned and over-growing frontier. And YOU, recently awakened, have a promise —no, a misbegotten responsibility to fulfill. Join the expedition into the unfathomable depths of the 'Folds' as a member of one of the branches of the Bureau of Stabilization, and leave a mark on a world that wasn't meant for you. Take the first step past the threshold of the Event Horizon, as the bottom-most rung of the hierarchical ladder in this pixel art-themed horror-adjacent adventure. Design your TR-Suit (or ask me to do it for you for free) and have it surgically applied to you during your awakening process, as well as your new SPINE. With this equipment you'll be exploring the ineffable while somewhat protected from the cognitohazards that await you. Unlock new playable origins, new playable species, new skill trees, new story paths, new equipment and resources, as you acquire DATA and expand the footprint of the BoS in the Undergrass. This is a shared campaign universe, and discoveries by other player parties might help you in your survival. Believe me, you'll need it. Expect death; rejoice in it. Death might be the end of your character, maybe even their story, but it won't be the end of your duty. Despite the suggestions at the top, the most influential sources of inspiration for this world are; the art of Giovanni Battista Piranesi, Gérard Trignac, Roman Opalka, the writings of Susanna Clarke, Albert Camus, Tsutomu Nihei, as well as games like NaissanceE, Darkwood, and many others.

About me
I'm a life-long worldbuilder and nearly everything I craft and perform with is made from scratch. Telling my own stories in these worlds has been my main activity since I was able to form full phrases. A decade ago some of these became table-top home games. Among my creations are multiple TTRPG Systems that range from alien to the average D&D player, to beginner friendly and generally applicable. Weather it's teaching the ropes to the un-initiated or challenging performers to truly experience the consequences of their characters' choices. I want to experience it with you. I want to listen as you express your creativity on the narrative canvas. I create the worlds, you break them.

Creating your character
In this heavy roleplaying series we'll be playing with the Lucid System which is fully automated, has hotkeys and shortcuts for everything; and is also very easy to learn. Given that the Lucid System is not available anywhere else; character creation for now must be done together with me. Although pretty much any concept of an original story you'd like to bring as your background, flavour of culture, and/or personal ability may be easily applied to your character. The mechanical part of character creation is pretty quick, and there is a randomization element that is available depending on the party that will be playing.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
- A reliable internet connection and microphone. - For now we'll be using Discord for communication. - RadminVPN. It's free and very quick to create an account and install as well as to uninstall, it's just a way to keep our IPs private, and to avoid any connection issues due to my ISP. - There's a form to fill out to establish your boundaries and such, if any: https://tally.so/r/68NlEP
What Fern brings to the table
All of the following will be hosted from my server, so you do not need to worry about setting up anything ahead of time. The Lucidity System will be available in full, with its rules and sheets and everything nice. An original OST as well as special albums I've purchased because they fit the experience really well. There will also be some OSTs from select video-games. I'll voice and act out for everyone you encounter, and you're encouraged to have fun with your interpretation of your character. Just because the game can get intense don't feel discouraged from speaking out of character, and feel free to play a comedian if you want. The combat will be ultimately lethal and very quick so every choice matters, and sometimes it won't be fair. Running away is always an option, and in the Folds it's usually the first choice. There might also be long chunks without combat, depending on how the players progress their exploration. But it won't be without dangerous challenges. In fact, it can be completely combat-void, since avoiding fights is usually the smart choice. There will, however, be opportunities to play extermination teams (or something of the kind).

How Fern creates a safe table
Any special needs or requests will have ample opportunity to be discussed with me. In session 0 everyone will get a chance to set their boundaries and express anything they feel is necessary. The system has features to signal the necessity to speak mid-session, and players are always free to directly message me on discord without any judgement. We'll have 15-min breaks mid-session to both decompress, prepare, and attend to things outside of game. After the game I'll always want to hear your questions, help you adjust settings, talk about what unfolded, pass on rewards that we might've missed, and listen to any criticisms and complaints. I ask that any problems you might have with other players be discussed directly, or with me. And if necessary I'll help mediate.
