About the adventure
Can you be the next Spider-Man or Iron Man? Do you have what it takes to join the pantheon of Marvel heroes? Of course, you'll start at street level, but you never know where your adventures might take you! In this mini campaign, you'll become a new superhero who joins others of his kind to defend the city of Chicago against a mysterious threat that looms over heroes and civilians alike. You can be a mutant, a tech hero, a super soldier, or a scrappy street vigilante with no powers but your fighting skills... but whatever you choose, you'll come together as a fantastic, amazing, uncanny, incredible... well, you get the idea... a brand new superhero team to defend the innocent and protect the helpless. There'll be plenty of combat, but also opportunities for other kinds of heroic feats, as well as using technical, social, or investigative skills. If the group clicks together, we can work out extending this into a full-fledged campaign, where we'll have time to work in your character's secret identity, roleplay their relationships with the supporting cast and the other members of the team, and improve your skills and powers. Join the Marvel Universe!

Creating your character
Before the campaign starts, I will help you create your character. A backstory is welcome, so you can better shape your hero, but you do not have to be a writer. I will provide a questionnaire to help you flesh out your character. On the mechanics side, you'll chose the origin of your powers, the kind of powers you want, and the level you want them at; what kind of of training and knowledge they have, and what their secret identity does for a living. Powers can be customized, with bonus building points available for having powers that aren't inherent to your character or that aren't active all the time. For example, being super strong all the time costs more points than having to don an armor or amulet to increase your strength, or having to transform into another shape to access your powers. You can also take special weaknesses to increase the buying power of your building points, and I will award extra skill points for detailed character backgrounds. Oh, I'll even help you choose your superhero name and design your costume! All in all, we will work together so you play the character that will make you happy.

What MaGnUs brings to the table
I have almost 30 years experience as a gamemaster, and over 40 as a reader of superhero comics. Together, those two skills will help me ensure you feel immersed in the Marvel Universe, just as if you were in a comic book. Long time readers, new fans of the comics, or people who just watch the movies and TV shows, anyone is welcome. This is an inclusive table, in all senses, where we get together to have fun. You will feel that your character is part of the Marvel Universe, and at the same you will be able to carve your own place within it, without being overwhelmed by larger than life pre-existing characters, even if they make a cameo or two, or you get to team-up with one of them. The actions of your character will have an effect on the game world. Action in my game is done with theater of the mind and making sure rule-of-cool is more important than hard rules, promoting a cinematic experience with plenty of chances to do amazing things. My customization of the D6 system to play superhero games has been used in my home games for over 20 years, with several campaigns under my belt.
Homebrew rules
Over the years, I have adapted the D6 system (with the second edition, revised and expanded) to fit my needs and that of my players. The modifications are too many (but not that radical) to list here, but I'd be happy to go into detail if you're familiar with the rules-as-written. The most important changes I've made are to how multiple actions are declared and penalized in combat; as well as instituting a "henchman" system inspired by 7th Sea so your hero can mow down several goons at a time before facing up with the real threats: the supervillains.
