About the adventure
War has come to Krynn. In Dragonlance: Shadow of the Dragon Queen, you’ll step into a world on the brink as the ruthless Dragonarmies march across the land, leaving ash, fear, and conquest in their wake. The once-proud nation of Solamnia is under siege, its legendary knights scattered, and hope is in short supply. You are not yet heroes of legend, you’re survivors, recruits, and unlikely allies drawn together by circumstance. As the conflict escalates, your choices will shape the fate of entire regions: defend vulnerable towns, uncover enemy strategies, forge alliances, and stand against overwhelming odds. This is a war story at its core, grounded, and desperate. Expect a strong mix of: ⚔️ Tactical combat with meaningful stakes 🎭 Character-driven roleplay and evolving relationships 🧭 Exploration shaped by wartime decisions 🪖 A living battlefield where victories and losses matter This campaign uses the War of the Lance backdrop to create a cinematic, character-focused experience. You’ll feel the pressure of a world changing around you, refugees fleeing, cities falling, and legends rising. Heroism isn’t guaranteed. It’s earned. What makes this game stand out: A cohesive war narrative where your actions influence the front lines Memorable NPCs, allies, and rivals shaped by your decisions Opportunities for both gritty realism and heroic triumph Optional integration of mass battle elements to scale the conflict Whether you’re holding the line in a desperate defense, scouting enemy movements, or making impossible moral choices, your story will matter. Perfect for players who: Enjoy story-rich campaigns with real consequences Like a balance of combat and roleplay Want to experience a classic fantasy war setting with a modern 5e approach No prior knowledge of Dragonlance is required, just bring a character ready to fight for something bigger than themselves. The war is already here. The question is: what will you do when it reaches you?

Homebrew rules
Crunchy Crits: When you roll a critical hit, rather than rolling your damage dice twice (or rolling twice the number of dice), your first roll will automatically be “rolled” at max value, and you will roll the additional dice, adding that damage to the first (maxed) roll before adding any modifiers to determine total damage. a. For example, if you are attacking with a longsword and roll a critical hit, rather than rolling 2d8, you will automatically “roll” an 8 on the first die, and you will roll the second die as you usually would. Say you have a damage modifier of +1 and roll a 6 with your second die, your damage roll will be 8 + 6 = 14 + 1, for a total damage of 15. Lingering Injuries: See the "lingering injuries table" the Dungeon Masters Guide chapter: 9, page 272.
