About the adventure
You’re quick-witted and street-smart, just enough to keep your galifars (gold) in your pouch and your ribs un-shanked. Then Max, a private eye with a fedora and a grin that hides trouble, finds you. A noble’s gone missing, the Sharn Watch is too slow to act. There is coin and favors waiting for any bold enough to dig where others won't. Curtain Calls drop you into the heart of Eberron’s metropolis, Sharn a city of arcane wonders and inventions. It’s a vertical world of bridges, flying coaches, and monopolized industry. Where every hand is greased, and every clue could earn you gold… or a shove from a bridge down into the Cogs below. Will you join the hunt and solve this noir mystery? *This is an intro one-shot to a mini campaign set in Sharn written by Keith Baker (creator of Eberron). What to expect! 1. Detective-style roleplay in a dangerous urban sprawl 2. Beginner-friendly 3. Balanced mix of investigation, intrigue, and combat 4. A perfect introduction to the tone and lore of Eberron 5. 5e 2024 ruleset + Forge of the Artificer changes + Exploring Eberron 6. Pre-made characters are available. Optional hooks (choose one): 1. A human named Max corners you in a bar. Something about a missing noble. Fifty coins for a finder's fee isn't so bad, or more...? 2. The odd jobs board’s the usual: missing wallets, missing pets, and unreadable ancient requests. Then one stands out: Missing noble. Contact “The Max,” private investigator for hire. A sketch of a fedora-wearing man stares off dramatically. "Whose foolish enough to post this?" 3. "Max? That you, buddy? Been a while. That hat still not in style. A favor? From back in the war? Fine… then we’re square." 4. Or maybe it’s something else. Your choice. Everyone has their secrets.

About me
Hi, my name is Vin. I run both online and offline tables. Locally, I host a one-shot table at a game store for various adventures set in the Forgotten Realms, and more recently Eberron. Online, I host long-term campaigns for friends, coworkers and strangers alike. I am used to creating long narratives with big emotional or storytelling payoff and on the spot improv based on the dice roll. If you want to know more about me! Read further down below. I’ve been running D&D 5e for almost three years, but my first taste of the game was over 20 years ago. One hot summer, I sat with friends in an abandoned swimming pool role-playing heroes and villains without really knowing the rules. It ended with a giant boulder trap wiping us out, and for some reason we never played again. Years later my wife reintroduced me to D&D, and I fell back in love with the imagination and collaboration it sparks. Somewhere along the way I picked up the DM’s chair, and I haven’t looked back. Outside of the game, I’m into horror movies, sci-fi, anime, and fantasy of all kinds. My wife and I are working through Brandon Sanderson’s Stormlight Archive, though my all-time favorite series will always be Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time.

How Vin creates a safe table
I run games with open storytelling, but there are clear boundaries: 1. Lines (these will not appear in the game): - Sexual content, sexual violence, or heavy sexual innuendo - Real-world racism, sexism, misogyny, or anti-LGBTQ+ 2. Veils (may exist, but never in detail): - Torture or extreme violence (cartoonish violence is fine) - Intense gore or body horror 3. Open Door Policy: - Players can step away from the game at any time, for any reason, without explanation. 4. We’ll also use X, N, and O cards so players can check in or stop the action if something feels uncomfortable. You can say it privately in chat, or openly. The goal is to keep the table safe, fun, and welcoming for everyone.
