About the adventure

Nothing is more quintessentially Dungeons & Dragons than gathering a group of heroes to face a mighty dragon in a mysterious dungeon. These classic elements link players across time and space, from the first adventurers who forayed into the gloom more than 50 years ago to players beginning their first adventure now. Dragon Delves is a celebration of this shared tradition. Each of the ten adventures in this book features a dragon in a lair. Designed for characters of levels 1 through 12, the adventures offer a range of challenges, from defeating evil dragons to working with good dragons, as well as navigating more complicated moral dilemmas. The dungeons where the dragons make their lairs range from cavern complexes to ruined cities and more. Death at Sunset is the first adventure in this module where players will save the town of Redwood Watch from their reptile problem.

About me

I have been playing D&D 5th edition for about five years and have primarily DMed published modules with my own modifications mostly for player backstory or for quality of life improvement. Some of my favorite campaigns to run and play include Curse of Strahd, Tales from the Yawning Portal, and Rime of the Frostmaiden. I view 5th edition as a storytelling game first, with mechanics and roleplay working together to support the story being told at the table.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players should have a discord and dnd beyond account. Both the link for the discord and the dnd beyond account will be available after being accepted. After sign-up please do the survey and reach out to me so we can talk about you expectations of the game and your character concept. Please be mindful that I work 7am-6pm on weekdays and will respond most likely after work. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc9nHdieibxsQI2JGbAnumKK6xX6Q9w3vSH8krSUxHZhI-0qQ/viewform?usp=dialog

What Joseph Han brings to the table

I run my games rules as written/intended and have worked with 5e long enough to know most of the rules, and have worked to update to 2024. I feel that the rule of cool is free for flavor but not mechanics. Flavor should always be free, your eldritch blast can be silver lasers from your eyes or your spellbook can be a bag of marbles with each spell a marble. I believe that 5e is at its best when all three pillars (roleplay/combat/exploration) are functioning together to advance the story. While this will be a roleplay heavy game, combat and exploration are not hand waved. There will never be a session where only one of the three pillars are present but there will be sessions where one is more emphasized than the others. If one part of the game does not feel fun for you, please reach out to me and we can work together. My fundamental belief as a DM is that players should feel like the characters they created. The world should respond to your character with the sincerity of what you created. Please feel free to try out voices or concepts and see how you like them. I will try voices as best I can but please don't expect professional level. I provide most source books on dnd beyond and can purchase any options players feel would help their character. I also build the foundry world using modules to make the campaign feel more game like.

Homebrew rules

No Flanking, full turn potion gives max health, study is a bonus action Maxwells Malicious Maladies (System Shock/Lingering Injuries) Please don't ask me for a long rest because you're hurt or ran out of spell slots. 5e is a resource managament game and part of the martial/caster gap is caused by the overabudnace of rest. Skill Challenges for consecutive party plans Skill Checks are called for by the DM. Player dictates action, DM calls Rolls Background decoupled with feat/atribute Turn Timer: Your round will start a turn timer, know what you want to to do and can do before your turn. Be ready on your turn. Know your class features and spells. Players are free to voice rules they woul like to add; this list is not meant to be exhaustive.
