About the adventure
Explore the magnificent but decaying island city of Fano! You and your party have come to Fano for your own reasons, answering the call of fate and coin, and fine yourselves aiding Fawn Lee of the Order of Indos as she seeks to fulfill her father's dying wish by seeking out the lost and fabled druid, Gilgazo. While this adventure ends at level 5, I'll be running the sequel adventure Dark Symmetry after that takes players from 5-10th level. Players in this game will have priority in joining that game. I wanted to separate them for those who may not wish to play a longer campaign and keep going after this one ends. View the Kickstarter Trailer for the game here: https://youtu.be/i1DXN-WHuHg?si=2935KhmgYlzIgUKi This campaign will primarily use the 2014 D&D5E rules. Player's Handbook, and Xanathar's Guide to Everything are open for use, other supplements can be discussed, I have a number of third party books that can be pulled from if interested. It will be played on the Alchemy RPG virtual tabletop platform which can be used via PC or tablet as it is browser based (phone is not recommended). This is beginner friendly and inclusive game, so don't be afraid to join if you've never played or are BIPOC/LGBTQ+.

About me
I am the Mad Catter, I've been running RPG's since I was a wee little Catter, and I will probably stop when I'm dead. Maybe not even then. I have a background in theater, I am a storyteller, and consider one of the heights of the craft to be the collective weaving of tales a group can conjure up. Here's what you can expect from me as a GM: 🕰️ Years of experience. (Not that it truly matters) 🏳️🌈⚧️ Inclusive GM 🎭 Narrative GM style. 📜 Incorporates player back stories. 🧛 Horror storyteller (have a podcast and everything) 🤡 You'll get the funny (or creepy) voices! 🎼 Music and Ambience incorporation. 📚 Lover of many systems. 🌱 Loves teaching new players. 🖥️ Can run on Fantasy Grounds, Alchemy, and Roll20, still learning Foundry. I love running RPG's, and I love teaching RPG's, and to a lesser extent VTT's because, well, that's how I run RPG's after all. My experience is in various iterations of D&D and Pathfinder, however I'm playing other systems and want to play even more. If you wish to commission me, message me with your request, and I'll be honest about my ability to aid you with it. Booking rates are assuming a full table, one on one can be negotiated.
View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
I have a simple method of character creation. Players are allowed to roll their stats 4d6 dropping the lowest roll six times. If their stats are terrible, they may elect to either use Standard Array, or point buy. I must observe these rolls through some means. Hit points are maxed at first level, and starting gear is used. I'll allow players to use the 5e Core + Xanathar's Guide and its subclasses, feats, spells. Open to other supplements on a case by case basis.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Alchemy RPG can be used on a PC or a tablet, though it is fairly crucial you have a platform that can enable sound, as some aspects of the game will involve pre-recorded narration. Naturally you should have a microphone as well, and while a webcam is preferable, it is not required. This platform uses all of these things so while I'll invite people to my Discord Server, it is not required for play. You'll want to make a free account on https://alchemyrpg.com which should allow you to participate in up to 3 games at any one time without the use of their subscription model.
What The Mad Catter brings to the table
I bring many years of experience DMing, a love of teaching new players, and an Alchemy RPG account just itching to bring immersive gaming to new players of D&D. As a backer of the original Lore of Aetherra: The Lost Druid, I have all of its assets, from an amazing soundtrack to the wonderfully crafted adventure to the lustrous motion art, and I am eager to share it all with new players. This adventure is being played on the VTT platform made by its creators, so you'll be experiencing it more or less as intended! I'm a narrative GM with a background in the performing arts, I consider RPG's to be the height of collective storytelling, and I'm eager to see the tales woven by you and your characters. I'll use funny voices, bad real world accents (but excellent in-world accents!), and an renewed enthusiasm for my favorite hobby. I'll lean towards the rules but the rule of cool trumps all when appropriate.
Homebrew rules
Drinking potions is a bonus action. Otherwise sticking largely with the core 5E 2014 rules, open to incorporating some of 2024 as pertains to ones character.

How The Mad Catter creates a safe table
Players can expect an immersive virtual table top experience with animated scenes and an impressive soundtrack. Should they want to continue playing, the sequel will be an option when The Lost Druid concludes. All you need is the free 5th Edition SRD to play, a free account on Alchemy RPG, and time! Some rules options from FateForge (a free/pay what you want 5th Edition rules set) may be used, though this will be discussed during Session 0. Session 0 will include character creation if players are unable to meet with me prior to gaming, as well as discussions of Lines and Veils, and a brief overview of the Alchemy RPG virtual tabletop.
