About the adventure

Welcome to Seattle. Former Pacific Northwest Bastion of the UCAS, and playground of the world's megacorporations. Here there is power. Here there is promise. And here, the shadows grow long and dark under the countless skyscrapers. In other words, the perfect place for an intrepid band of Shadowrunners. In S.I.N.S of the Emerald City, step into the hobnailed boots of the hardened criminals who prowl Seattle. Take up contract work and raid corporate offices for the juiciest info. Or "liberate" a lifelong employee out of one corporate enslavement contract... and into the arms of another wageslave contract. Make deals with spirits as a shaman, jailbreak the most secure dataforts as a decker, or paint the streets red as the most battle-hardened samurai. What kind of name will you make for yourself in Seattle? Who will call you friend, and who will rue the day they met you? And can you live long enough to collect and spend your hard-earned nuyen? S.I.N.S of the Emerald City is intended for those new to Shadowrun 5th Edition. Those who have experience with Shadowrun properties such as the excellent game Shadowrun Returns are more than welcome to take part in our adventures.

About me

A humble player of rpgs who has been behind and in front of the screen consistently for over two decades, I am a lover of all editions of D&D, Pathfinder, Shadowrun and WoD. Experience in running 3.5, 4th and 5th edition D&D, Shadowrun, various WoD and CoD campaigns and games both independent and obscure. My games run from simple, heartfelt adventures to deep social dramas and good old-fashioned dungeon diving!

Character creation

Creating your character

There will be a Session Zero where the players will gather to discuss options and create their characters. We will be using the Core Rulebook in creating their characters, although other official books for 5th Edition are welcome at GM's Discretion.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

The players should have accounts on Discord. Games will be played live on mic. Although it will be optional for players to have their cameras turned on, the GM will be using his camera during play.

What Chris brings to the table

In terms of materials, I will provide copies of the Shadowrun core rulebook and character sheet in the Resources section of the game Discord group. I will also be providing a link to the Lines and Veils sheet. As a GM, I am very much a believer in putting the players first and foremost. You are the stars of the show, and thus have agency in what you do and how you go about it. During the times between missions (enroute or during those precious celebrations), I delight in asking as to the mindset of your character; what they are thinking, what makes them tick, and what they intend to do once they have the nuyen in their credsticks.

Homebrew rules

The principle Homebrew rule I use is Achievements: When players perform an action that delights both myself and the party, they are awarded an Achievement at the end of the session. Achievements can come from performing a particularly gruesome kill, succeeding at a Herculean task, or just saying or doing something that makes me smile. This Achievement comes with a bonus of an extra Experience Point.

Safety

How Chris creates a safe table

Players will be provided a link to a Lines and Veils pdf, which is to be filled out and submitted prior to Session Zero. During Session Zero, the players and I will go over their established Lines and Veils, as well as discuss other subjects which may be taboo which weren't present on the sheet or were thought of later. During our sessions, we will take a break halfway through so that I may touch base with the players and make sure they are still comfortable and having fun. Whenever there is a heavy scene or someone asks for a scene to stop, we will also employ these breaks to make sure everyone is okay. Each session will also end with a brief discussion on what the players liked, how they feel the game is going, and any concerns they would like to address. My DMs will also be open for players to discuss their concerns in confidence. Over the course of play, players will be asked to submit their X, N and O's to me through DM to maintain their confidentiality.
