Creating your character

Creating your character All characters will begin at Level 5 and we'll use the Standard Array or the Point Buy system for ability scores. Link to the D&D Beyond one-shot server will be posted in the Discord server. Please join the D&D Beyond campaign before building your character. If you’re new to D&D or D&D Beyond and this sounds confusing, don’t worry! Just send me a quick message, and I’ll guide you through the process so you’ll be ready to jump right into the adventure. Otherwise, I expect to speak with every player before the one-shot as you will need a magic item (existing or homebrew) for the game.

Preparing for the session

A few quick steps to make sure you’re ready for adventure and can jump right into the fun: Check your setup: Make sure you have a stable internet connection and a working microphone. Try to play in a quiet space with as few distractions as possible so we can all hear each other clearly. Create your accounts: You’ll need Discord for voice and video, D&D Beyond for character management, dice rolls, maps and visuals. Bring the right energy: Show up with a positive, open attitude and be ready to have fun, collaborate, and tell great stories together. Once you've joined a session, I'll send the discord server link!

What Nicolas brings to the table

Immersion & Ambiance I believe that a great TTRPG experience starts with the senses. For every session, I provide custom-made visual aids, from detailed character tokens to atmospheric maps designed to pull you into the world. Gameplay & Rules My style is a blend of narrative freedom and tactical stakes. I’m a firm believer in the Rule of Cool: if you have a creative, cinematic idea that fits the story, I will always find a way to make it possible. However, when the swords are drawn, I enjoy intense, tactical combat where positioning and environment matter—especially when fighting in unconventional settings like natural, jagged caverns. What to Expect You can expect a game that rewards investigation and roleplay. I love building tension and presenting my players with moral dilemmas. My goal is to create a "safe but spooky" environment where your characters' choices have a real impact on the world—and where the rewards you find might just have a hidden price of their own.

How Nicolas creates a safe table

My table is one of respect, inclusion, and collaboration. Everyone is welcome. We’re here to have fun together — and that means being polite, patient, and supportive. Players may use a Pause Card at any time to stop the action if something is confusing, overwhelming, or needs clarification. We’ll pause, check in, and continue when everyone’s ready. We also use X, N, and O Cards (physical or in chat): X (Red): Stop — content is unsafe or uncomfortable. N (Yellow): Caution — heading toward discomfort. O (Green): Yes — this is great, keep going. These tools help keep communication open and everyone safe. My goal is a table where all players feel welcome, respected, and free to explore adventure with confidence and creativity. I will also clarify expectations and anything that can cause discomfort during the game with every player before we play.
