The Ghostlight Express is a spectral train that ferries souls to the afterlife. Your journey through the mists of death leaves you stranded in the mysterious valley of Wickermoor Hollow — where isolated peoples are terrorized by restless dead, wicked hags, ravenous monsters, and many other creatures of a night that never ends. Somewhere in this crooked land, a Crooked Man grins beneath a Crooked Tree. He hears the whispers of something ancient and hungry. And it has noticed you. The Crooked Moon is a massive folk horror campaign drawing inspiration from grim folklore, legendary horror films, and classic Halloween aesthetics — set in Druskenvald, a demiplane of endless night where the living and dead coexist. This is not a world of shining heroes and clear-cut evil. This is a world of dread, wonder, difficult choices and stories that will haunt you long after the session ends. Creating your character
We play using the 2024 D&D ruleset. The Crooked Moon includes 15 unique folk horror subclasses and 13 Halloween-inspired species all available to players at my table alongside standard D&D options. Want to play a Harvestborn scarecrow or a Sinner Rogue who hexes enemies with dark jinxcraft? This is your campaign. You can build your character using: — Standard Array — Point Buy — Rolled stats (4d6, drop the lowest) — done live on our free Session 0 call All character creation happens during Session 0, which is completely free. We use the Fateweaving System — a personal story arc woven directly into the adventure so your character's history becomes part of the horror from session one. We start at level 1. Open to all experience levels.
