About the adventure

Welcome to the Prismeer: A Journey of Whimsy and Wonder Step through the silver mist and into a world where emotion shapes reality and every shadow hides a secret. In this campaign, we are diving deep into The Wild Beyond the Witchlight, a quintessential Feywild adventure that trades gritty dungeons for vibrant, chaotic beauty. This is a world governed by the Rules of Ownership, Hospitality, and Reciprocity—where a polite greeting is often more powerful than a sharpened blade. This game is designed for the dreamers, the actors, and the storytellers. If you love unraveling complex character motivations, engaging in witty banter with eccentric NPCs, and finding creative, non-violent solutions to problems, you will feel right at home. While the mechanics of D&D 5e provide our framework, our focus remains firmly on heavy roleplay and collaborative world-building.

About me

Hello future adventurers! I'm Jen, and I'm thrilled to offer a Dungeons & Dragons experience focused on collaborative storytelling and vibrant social interaction. I started Dungeon Mastering in college around 2006, but my journey with role-playing began much earlier, in high school, where I cultivated a love for co-creating stories with friends. This means I'm a social role-player first and foremost! My games lean heavily into "Theater of the Mind," allowing us to weave a fun and interesting narrative together. While exploration and combat are certainly important and will be part of our adventures, my primary focus is on building a compelling story and a great atmosphere at the table. If you're looking for a DM who specializes in massive combat encounters or intricate, sprawling dungeons, I might not be the best fit, as those aren't my main priorities. Tabletop games are my favorite way to connect with people, and I strive to make every session a positive and inclusive space. I am openly LGBTQ+ supportive and foster a strictly co-operative environment—no PvP here! Your adventuring party are teammates, and I believe in prioritizing player relationships. If any conflicts arise between players, we'll address them peacefully and before we kill goblins. I'm passionate about bringing fun, positive energy to every game. If you're looking for a D&D experience where storytelling, collaboration, and a friendly atmosphere come, play with me!

Character creation

Creating your character

Character Creation Guidelines Welcome to the party! To ensure we hit the ground running, here is everything you need to know about building your hero for our journey into the Feywild. The Technical Bits (Roll20) We will be using Roll20 for our character sheets. You have three options for getting your character into the game: Direct Creation: You can build your character directly within our Roll20 game room. Character Import: If you have a character ready in your Roll20 Vault, you are welcome to import them. Also if you're familiar with Beyond 20 you may link your character from there. Manual Entry: I currently have the 2014 Player’s Handbook and The Wild Beyond the Witchlight integrated into the Roll20 Compendium. If you choose a race, class, or background from other official sources (like Tasha’s or Xanathar’s), you will need to enter those details manually. Building Your Hero Sources: Any official D&D 5e race/species, class, and subclass is permitted. Stats: We will be rolling for stats! Please use the 4d6 (drop the lowest) method. To keep things heroic and fun, if you roll a total below 10, please reroll that specific stat. We want to avoid those "feels bad" negative modifiers where possible! No Cost for Character Creation: Whether you are a veteran or a total newbie, I am here for you. If you’d like help building your character, I am more than happy to jump on Discord with you outside of our scheduled game time to walk through the process. Approval: For experienced players who prefer to build independently, please present your completed sheet to me for a quick "green light" before our first session. Backstory: The "One-Page" Rule I love a deep backstory, but let's save the heavy lifting for the table! Length: Please limit your written backstory to one page. Focus: Focus on the "Big Three"—Where do you come from? Why are you traveling? And what is one important detail or mystery about your past? Growth: Give me the foundation, and we will discover the finer details together through roleplay as the story unfolds. Need a Hand? If you have questions about how a specific subclass fits the Feywild theme or need help navigating the Roll20 Charactermancer, just shoot me a message on Discord. Let's make something magical!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You're going to need Discord and Roll20 accounts. Basic free accounts are fine. You should also either have a real life notebook and pencil or use a document program like google docs or microsoft word to take notes. I prefer Google docs.

What Jen brings to the table

What to Expect at Jen’s Table As your Dungeon Master, my goal is to facilitate a world that feels alive, reactive, and deeply personal to your characters. I bring a blend of structured preparation and creative fluidity to every session, ensuring that while we follow the rules of the game, the "Rule of Cool" and the heart of the story always take center stage. The Atmosphere: Narrative & Mannerisms I am a storyteller at heart. As a published author and a lover of world-building, I lean heavily into descriptive narration and character-driven plots. Authentic Roleplay: For immersive storytelling, I don’t promise "silly voices" for every NPC. Instead, you can expect that I will roleplay each character with the specific tone and mannerisms they would naturally use. My focus is on portraying their personality and motivations accurately based on the lore and the situation at hand. The "Rule of Cool": While I have a firm grasp of the mechanics (I’ve spent years "driving the bus" in both real life and D&D!), I believe the rules should serve the story. If you have a creative, cinematic idea that fits the moment, I will almost always find a way to say, "Yes, and..." A Supportive & Inclusive Environment Beyond the dice rolls, I pride myself on maintaining a high-vibe, welcoming space. LGBTQ+ Affirming: My table is a sanctuary where everyone can be their authentic selves. Diversity isn’t just welcomed; it’s celebrated. Empowerment & Positivity: I bring a background in meditation and positive affirmations into my DMing style. I want you to feel empowered as a player. Whether you are a veteran or brand new to the hobby, I am a patient mentor who will never make you feel "put on the spot" in a way that isn't fun. Collaborative Safety: We will use safety tools to ensure everyone remains comfortable with the themes of the game. I am always available on Discord for "stars and wishes" (feedback on what you loved and what you want to see more of). The Combat Balance In The Wild Beyond the Witchlight, combat is often a choice rather than a requirement. Tactical but Flexible: When initiative is rolled, I keep things moving efficiently. However, I am always open to players using their skills, the environment, or even a well-timed gift to end a conflict peacefully. High Stakes, High Reward: My encounters are designed to be meaningful. You won't find "filler" fights here; every scrap or social showdown moves your character's personal journey forward. What I Provide for You: Technical Support: Full access to my Roll20 compendium (PHB & Witchlight) and 1-on-1 Discord help for character creation. Dedicated Prep: I spend hours between sessions weaving your backstories into the module so that the world feels like it was made for your hero. Consistency: With years of professional experience as a driver, I value punctuality and clear communication. You can count on me to be there, ready to play.

Homebrew rules

I use a Critical Fumble and Critical success table for natural 1s and 20s These are normally reserved for battle, but know that if you roll a nat 1 or Nat 20, the dice gods have seen fit that terrible or wonderful things have happened. About every hour or so I usually call for a Bio Break, which means everyone gets 5 minutes to go to the bathroom. Check your phone briefly. Be human so you can come back refreshed. Don't be afraid to ask for one pre maturely. I believe in a "Yes, and?" style of DMing, which means I want to hear your idea and I can add to it or add it into the world. Please play sober, your mind needs to be clear and aware of what is going on. This game is already complicated enough without adding alcohol to the mix.

Safety

How Jen creates a safe table

Lines and Veils will be in the Discord. There will be a Session 0 when Characters will be made and Lines and Veils will be discussed. The list on Discord can be updates and modified. I'd happily hang around after game time for up to 15 minutes to clear up information or hear out player issues over discord video call. or send me a message over discord if anyone is feeling uncomfortable. In Roll20 there is a Safety Deck under the collections tab that players can use.
