About the adventure

For beginners of Daggerheart. This is going to be a brand new campaign where we will build the story together. Meaning that we will collaborate on what kind of story we want to tell, the names of the places we want to go to, the level of technology, and all of that session zero goodness. After all of that communication and collaboration is complete this of course will have to be rewritten but join in on the ground floor while we build this homebrew world as it was intended, together!

About me

Hello! My name is Mxlpxl. I have been playing tabletop roleplaying games for over 11 years now and have found that I am extremely passionate when it comes to curating these experiences for people. My favorite thing to do is have people interact with a world and have it move and change with their actions while still being able to poke fun at ourselves. My experience in running tabletop roleplaying games are equal parts with adults and it has been for kids. Having to switch gears to a public school teacher in NYC, I've had the amazing opportunity to bring Tabletop Roleplaying games to classrooms across the five boroughs. For many of us, this is a fun way to spend our time being creative and hanging out with our friends. To my enrichment, it has also expanded my toolkit in the classroom to teach skills like reading, writing, arithmetic, socialization, and social emotional learning under the guise of fantasy roleplaying. Academic and social skills which are severely lacking in this fast paced digital world. During the Summer I enjoy running games at conventions, my favorite one being Gencon in Indianapolis and NYComicon at home. Even though these one shots are often short lived, it is so important to me that their first game is a memorable experience. (so many horror stories of bad experiences from people I've met over the years) It is my sincere belief that TTRPGs are a low stakes vehicle to access a healthy part of the human experience. An opportunity to hang out with friends, meet new people, have an even stage to pretend like an adult in a safe space, creatively use tools to solve problems, and just tell an awesome story. Everyone needs these things, and somehow TTRPGs wrap it all up in a single experience.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will be creating characters together using the website Demiplane! Come in with an idea, listen to the plot and the frame of the world, collaborate with everyone at the table, and let’s make some unique and interesting characters. No prep is required, but feel free to bring your enthusiasm.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

If you set up a Roll20, Demiplane, Discord account that would be very helpful but if you’d like assistance with that we can do that the day off.

What Mxlpxl brings to the table

I’m a game master who enjoys using a various toolset to run a table. Some of those things include: -Prioritizing safety and security with checklist documents for people’s comfort. - player input on the things you enjoy ex: puzzles, intense combat, mystery solving, romance, body horror, exploration, homebrew items, I’m someone who puts the players fun first. - voices for npcs, I love using accents/dialects for characters to make the world feel alive. - Discord server for voice chat, repository for game elements like session notes, loot drops, inside jokes, out of game communication, sharing images and videos, a communication hub for the table. - the virtual tabletop Roll20 where we can see maps of the world, lore documents, combat maps, graphics, animation, music. - engaging lore and roleplay opportunities to interact with.

Safety

How Mxlpxl creates a safe table

We use a living document on google docs for our lines and veils. This checklist with room for comments is constantly reviewed and posted at the top of each session to ensure to safety and security of all players at the table. We also take a 15 minute break in the middle of the session. At the end of each session we also do stars and wishes, a system to talk about what we appreciate and things we’d like to see in the future. If at any point something happens that is hurtful to the integrity of the table actions are taken such as a 1 to 1 conversation, reversing choices in game, peer mediation, rewinding the entirety of the session, and removing offenders permanently from the table.
