About the adventure

Welcome to a tale that begins with humble beginnings and grows into something far stranger. In the frontier town of Phandalin, you’ll take on the role of an adventurer chasing coin, reputation, or purpose. What starts as a classic journey—escorting caravans, clearing out bandits, exploring forgotten ruins—soon reveals a deeper mystery tied to ancient magic and something stirring beneath the earth. This campaign blends heroic fantasy with creeping cosmic horror. Expect a gradual shift in tone: early sessions are approachable and adventurous, while later chapters lean into tension, paranoia, and unsettling discoveries. The world will react to your choices, NPCs will evolve (or unravel), and the line between ally and threat may blur as the story unfolds. This game is ideal for new or experienced players. If you’re new, you’ll get a welcoming introduction to D&D with guidance every step of the way. If you’re a veteran, you’ll find a rich narrative with opportunities for deep roleplay, meaningful choices, and a darker edge beneath the surface. My style as a DM is cinematic, character-driven, and immersive. I lean into voices, atmosphere, and player agency—your backstory matters, your decisions shape the world, and your characters will be at the heart of the story. Expect a balance of roleplay, exploration, and combat, with a focus on making every session feel like a chapter in an unfolding novel.

About me

I, like many others, started my DnD journey during the Pandemic. I immediately fell in love with the game. I jumped in with both feet becoming a DM for a local group within the first 3 months of starting as a player. I have a passion for storytelling and really want to bring my games to others and being able to make money from such a passion is really a dream for me. I want to do my best to provide an amazing experience to everyone, at a fair price, and make the story and adventure and your character's story the forefront of the experience! I am absolutely 100% inclusive and LGBTQ+ friendly.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will happen before Session 1, with support available if you need it. I’m happy to help you build your character step-by-step, especially if you’re new—just reach out and we can do it together. All characters will begin at Level 1, grounded in the world around Phandalin. You’re not legendary heroes (yet)—you’re capable adventurers with something to prove. I encourage simple but strong backstories with a reason to travel, take work, and trust a group. For stats, we’ll use standard array or point buy (no rolling) to keep things balanced. All official Dungeons & Dragons 5e content is allowed (Player’s Handbook, Tasha’s, Xanathar’s, etc.), with the exception of anything setting-breaking or overly niche—if you’re unsure, just ask. Homebrew may be allowed on a case-by-case basis. Characters can be created on D&D beyond. Before the game begins, I’ll review your character to make sure everything fits the tone and setting. Most importantly: build a character who wants to adventure and work with others—this is a collaborative story, and the party is at its heart.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Getting ready is quick and easy—just follow these steps before Session 1: 1. Join the Discord Server This is our main hub for communication, scheduling, rules questions, and announcements. A link will be provided after booking. 2. Create Your Character (D&D Beyond Only) All characters must be created on D&D Beyond using the provided guidelines. Once complete, send me your character sheet for review before the game. 3. Access the Foundry VTT We play on Foundry VTT—no account needed. I’ll provide a link before the session. Just open it in your browser (Chrome recommended) and make sure it loads properly. 4. Check Your Mic & Audio A clear microphone is required. Headphones are strongly recommended to avoid echo. No webcam needed. 5. Learn the Basics (If New) New players are absolutely welcome! I’ll help guide you, but reviewing the basic rules or your character abilities ahead of time will help you feel more confident. 6. Come Ready to Collaborate Bring a character who wants to adventure and work with others. This is a story-driven, team-focused game where your choices matter.

What Jason brings to the table

What to Expect at My Table Immersive Worlds: From foggy forests to bustling towns, every scene is vivid and alive. NPC Voices & Roleplay: Distinct voices, personalities, and quirks make interactions memorable. Music & Ambience: Mood-setting tracks and soundscapes bring the world to life. Tactical but Fun Combat: Strategy matters, but creativity and the “Rule of Cool” are rewarded. Rules with Flexibility: RAW guides us, but memorable moments take priority. Your Choices Matter: The world reacts to your actions—heroic, clever, or chaotic! Support & Resources: Maps, handouts, and story hooks help you prepare and shine. In short: cinematic, reactive, and fun gameplay where your characters’ actions leave a mark on the world.

Homebrew rules

Homebrew Rules at the Table Healing & Potions Taking a healing potion (or feeding one to a downed ally) is normally a bonus action, like in 2024 rules. If you want full healing instantly, you can spend a full action instead. Initiative & Hidden Information Hidden Initiative: Until a creature’s turn, it’s hidden from the other players. Hidden Death Saves: Only I (the DM) see your death save rolls. Combat Tweaks Critical Hits: Roll max dice + your normal roll + modifiers. Inspiration: You can use inspiration after rolling to gain advantage, unless it’s a critical fail. Players can grant inspiration to their companions for epic moments etc. Please do not abuse this ability. These tweaks are designed to keep combat tense, suspenseful, and cinematic, while giving your creativity and strategy a bigger role.

Safety

How Jason creates a safe table

Creating a safe, comfortable space is a top priority. Here’s how we handle it: Session 0 During Session 0, we’ll discuss boundaries, comfort levels, and expectations. We’ll cover any potential triggers, talk about homebrew rules, and explore how your characters fit into the story. Aftercare & Check-Ins After intense sessions, I’ll offer debrief time to talk about any difficult moments or lingering stress. You’re always welcome to message me privately if anything comes up later. General Approach Your comfort comes first. Roleplay and story moments will never push you beyond your stated boundaries. The game is meant to be fun, immersive, and engaging—but always safe.
