About the adventure

Beneath the world lies a kingdom of broken roads, drowned halls, and endless dark. You begin in chains, one prisoner among many, until a desperate escape throws you into the depths with only one other survivor at your side. From that moment on, this becomes a story of flight, trust, and survival as you navigate a hostile underworld filled with ruined strongholds, desperate enclaves, strange creatures, and ancient horrors beginning to stir. This campaign is built for one player with a DMPC companion, or two players working side by side. The focus is on survival, exploration, and character-driven storytelling. Light and food matter. Rest is never fully safe. Every refuge comes with its own dangers, and every mile through the dark asks hard questions: who do you trust, what do you risk, and how far will you go to make it back to the surface? The bond between the characters is at the heart of the story, whether that means friendship, loyalty, rivalry, or something deeper forged under pressure. This table is open to new and experienced players alike. Whether you want tense roleplay, a strong one-on-one character arc, or the thrill of surviving a world that wants to swallow you whole, this campaign is built to deliver a focused, atmospheric adventure where every victory feels earned. What to expect: 🎮 Inspired by the feel of "Out of the Abyss", "The Descent", "Darkest Dungeon", "Hollow Knight", and "Dragon Age: Origins" 🕯️ Dark fantasy survival and exploration 🧭 A living world shaped by your choices 🏛️ Ancient ruins, lost civilizations, and buried secrets ⚖️ Meaningful faction alliances and consequences ❤️ Character-driven storytelling, relationships, and romance (NSFW ERP optional and available) ⚔️ Tactical encounters balanced with narrative play 📝 1-2 main posts per day from me, with potentially more depending on availability 🌟 Special Discount for two partners joining together

About me

As what I'm sure is quite the familiar story by now, I first starting playing D&D5e during the Covid-19 pandemic. At first, it was something that a few of my friends and I did to stay connected and pass the time, but it soon blossomed into a full-grown passion for me. Not long after that game ended, I found StartPlaying, and found an easy way to find games to play in and people to play with. Having played as a player for most of my time, I want to grow as a DM, so hopefully I can help other people looking to play find their outlet.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will use D&D Beyond to create the character sheet. We will be using the 2024/5.5E rules update, and all official 1st-party classes and backgrounds are allowed. 3rd Party/Homebrew classes will need to be verified. When creating your character, do not add any Starting Equipment or Gold

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a Discord and D&D Beyond account to play.

What Evan brings to the table

Upon joining the campaign, you will be invited to my Discord server where the game will take place. Here is where you can chat, post memes, plan your next steps, keep a journal, and more I will run the game Rules as Written, but there is always room for Rule of Cool if it makes sense and can be justified.

Homebrew rules

- Healing Potions: Bonus Action = Rolled HP / Action = Full Amount - Critical Hit: When rolling a Critical Hit on an attack, we will use max damage, in additional to another damage roll - Critical Success: When rolling a Natural 20 on a skill check, it is an automatic success - Desperate Measures: When you hit half-health or become "Bloodied", you will be able to make Desperate Measures, allowing you to mark off Death Saving Throws in exchange for the ability to push yourself beyond your normal limits

Safety

How Evan creates a safe table

At our Session 0, we will go over character creation and backstory, a brief explanation of this module, house rules for game, safety tools and their use, and anything else that may come up as we get the game ready. My number one priority is that you have a fun time playing and are comfortable
