The Magical Mysteries and Artifacts Museum is a piece of history lost to time, closed, torn down, and has just been finished being rebuilt, all for the man who made magic come back to life. While he may be gone, the life he brought to the world with his wonders never left with him. Step into the continuation of his story, step into the new museum, see what one man who's passion for magic and it's ability to bring people together and light the way through a dark time in history. See his work be brought to life again, under a new museum curator and the benefactors that follow them into this new chapter of the world. Many years ago, a great man once stood on an old shoe box, by a run down cart, calling to the people on the road: "come one, come all! Magic is something we are not to fear, but to learn from! Take a step forward, pick up a wand, put on a ring, see what it's like to hold the power for a moment! Let it inspire you to do something great like the poets and others who came before us! See it not as a weapon, but as a ticket to a bright future! The power these hold, can spark a new light in us!" ... Was he right to share this joy with the world? ... Or should his work have left this world with him?

About me

Hi, I am Jordynn, I have been playing D&D for around 6 years, and started DMing 5 years ago. I mostly dm for some for some friends, and am hoping to bring the stories I end up writing to life with a table of people who will be able to enjoy them. I have a bit of a stutter, but I deal with it pretty quickly. My main goal is making sure people have fun while having fun myself, I am very open in communication, and I am learning to make battle maps, but that's been a bit of a crawl, but I am going to figure it out eventually!

Character creation

Creating your character

I will go over all of this again in Session 0, before we officially start, when we go over characters, triggers, and things that the campaign will have to help people understand myself as a DM more and for me to understand you guys as a party. The starting level is level 7, rather high, but you start off with experience in the field of collecting, whether that be for yourself or others. This is a milestone campaign, not all jobs will get you a level up, but you do get progress towards it. Stats will be decided through Point Buy, it's a good system that doesn't have RNG decide if your starts are going to make of break your character. As for creation method, I say go with what feels comfortable, so long as you don't mind sharing that character sheet with me in some way, so I can just have a rough idea of stats for encounter building. You can refer to any books for making your characters! This is set in the real world however, and I will have lore stuff in the discord server this will be hosted in for you guy to refer to that differs from history as we know it. I say communicate with me, as I want you all to be comfortable in the setting with a character you feel blends in well.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a Discord account, I will send a link to a server which I am going to use to host campaigns in. All I ask is that you bring yourself, good vibes, and a way to virtually share snacks. I am not using a camera, you will not be required to use a camera, I hate the idea of people seeing my face, as I do have some face blindness, features blend together at times and it's horrifying on my end, and thus, I won't force you to turn it on, unless it's to prove rolls on physical dice.

What Jordynn brings to the table

I think I bring a fun roleplay experience, the ability to freely choose paths in a situation, and adapt quickly, and adjust for the story to flow smoothly. I like to think I bring a place for a more roleplay centric story, for people to feel free. I work to meet a playing a player halfway for what they want, I tend to avoid the hard no's but also don't let people do whatever they want. It's D&D, everything is possible with magic, but sometimes you need to be a little realistic in your expectations. Without those semi-realistic walls, it will turn into an RPG horror story and just get wildly out of hand.

How Jordynn creates a safe table

Session 0 will be going over a lot of the things you guys have your hard no's. I have an entire channel for the lines and veils in channel for this campaign, as I will have for all my others. We can take breaks, this setting is in 1919, you are starting in London but this will travel in the US at some point, and we all know how that time period was for a lot of the world, and how it effected it. The US was just starting prohibition, there was the Red Scare, the recession, and that's just what I know about the US. The Spanish Flu pandemic was around, all of this is happening and it's topics not a lot of people feel comfortable with. They don't effect the story unless you are okay with how these things can effect it. I will be warning you in advance when you are getting to that point in the campaign, where you are going to be facing triggering topics, and where my profile icon is shown. to let you know "Hey, this session is gonna get heavy" and I want you to tell me. Tell me if you are going to be uncomfortable and how I can help, I can't erase this stuff from history, as much as I want to, to keep the story light and fun, but when you want to explore the world we live in, the dark parts of history come into play. If you need to stop in the session, take a few minutes to cool down, take a break to walk away, clear your head, get some water, 15 minutes of care, you are allowed to call a break. We can sit and discuss the session afterwards, we can talk about how I handled the issues, how I can do better if you think I didn't handle it right, we can talk about anything, it's a story I bring to you, and hope that even with the flaws of history, you give it a chance to work, that this stuff stays out of the front, and remains in the background.
