About the adventure

The Tournament of the Fallen Forge Across warfronts, battlefields, and training halls, tales spread of a sacred calling. Gorum’s war-priests had uncovered an ancient rite of honor, promising to gather the world’s greatest champions into a divine proving ground — a tournament personally witnessed by the Lord in Iron. The rite was meant to be harmless to the waking world. Warriors would be called in spirit, fight, and return bearing glory. The clerics believed they were about to witness Gorum’s greatest celebration of strength since the Age of Creation. But they were wrong. Very wrong. The Corruption Months earlier, agents of Norgorber — the god of lies, poison, and secrets — infiltrated the shrine disguised as devout converts. Pretending to share the clerics’ zeal, they gained their trust… and access to the ritual’s sacred tablets. Quietly, they rewrote its final stanzas. The rite no longer called spirits. It tore the bodies and souls of warriors directly from the waking world, dragging them away as they slept. But the clerics don’t realize this. When they begin the ritual, the corruption backlashes violently. Dark smoke fills the shrine. Blades rust and twist. The ground becomes iron slag. The clerics die screaming, their bodies warping into grisly statues of molten steel — martyrs to a faith manipulated. Their final sight is not Gorum’s proud gaze… …but a smiling mask of Norgorber reflecting in the flames. Where the Party Comes In The party does not witness the ritual. They simply go to sleep. And they wake up here: A colossal arena of black iron, banners fluttering in heat-warped wind. The air smells of blood and smoke. A figure stands atop a dais — clad in Gorumite war-plate, but its face is wrong, shifting like rippling oil, never fully forming. It raises its arms in welcome. “Champions! You have been summoned to Gorum’s Glorious Tournament. Though the priests who called you… paid a far greater price than they understood.” A soft, delighted laugh. “Let us honor their sacrifice, shall we?” Gates grind open. Something enormous roars in the darkness. The first battle begins.
