About the adventure

House Kenafin, the 15th House of Menzoberranzan, has been granted a sacred opportunity: erase House Nal’Thrae from history and offer their ruin to the Spider Queen and ascend in what Drow hold above all 'station'. You are the blades chosen for the task—Drow agents of noble cruelty, trained in deception, poison, prayer, and precision. Fail, and your House will be destroyed by the right of accusation. Succeed, and you may claw your way up the endless ladder of favour… if your allies don’t slit your throat first. This is a Level 12, Drow-only, 5–7 session campaign set entirely in the Underdark—a realm of living stone, alien ecologies, and predatory intelligence. The journey to Nal’Thrae’s domain is not a simple march; it’s a crawl through hostile tunnels and forgotten roads where sound carries too far and shadows have teeth. When you reach House Nal’Thrae, the real work begins. You’ll need to infiltrate, sabotage, and open the way—whether through subterfuge, brute strength so that the rest of House Kenafin’s launch their assault. When the assault erupts into open slaughter, you’ll be at the heart of it: cutting through elite defenders and confronting the Matron Mother and her high priestesses in a final, brutal rite of conquest as the fate of two Houses is decided. This campaign is for players who want high-level D&D with a villain-forward edge: ruthless objectives, morally dark choices, and explosive set-piece combat. You are not heroes. You are instruments of the Spider Queens appetite—ambitious, expendable, and deadly. This adventure is based on the books created by R.A. Salvatore The Adventures of Drizzt. Character creation

Creating your character

First session will be a session 0 so all the players can meet and I can run through everything I need to, consent forms, roleplay, overall flow of campaign etc. Stats will be point buy to make things simple. Starting level will be level 12. All players MUST choose Drow as their race. No classes are restricted. Homebrew content should be sent to me for approval before implementing. The characters will be created on D&D Beyond & I will send you a link to create a character on one of my campaign slots. Alternatively you can also create your character on Roll20 as that's the VTT we will be using. We will be using 2014 D&D 5e rules. Books of reference I have used are the 2014 & 2024 Monster manual, Creatures Of The Underdark, The adventures of Drizzt series by R.A. Salvatore. This will be a classic Drow adventure style so prepare to be more wicked and cruel than kind & understanding. In terms of roleplay, there are a few changes to ensure everyone has a good time. These are: There is a Matriarchy in the world of Drow & some light jibing shall be fine, however please respect all players at the table and be tasteful with your quipping. This will be covered in Session 0. Slavery will be encountered as it is a factor in cruel Drow society. What you choose to do with this is down to you, but do mind that this can be a sensitive subject for others and again, be tasteful with your decisions i.e. do not immediately try and create new slurs to use. This will be covered in Session 0.

What Joey The DM brings to the table

My GM style is certainly more rule of cool than rules as written. I reward player creativity as much as possible. I am lenient on rulings, especially with good reason, however on any debate of rules. I will always have final ruling in order to keep the game moving. I shall bring custom maps I made myself using Dungeon Alchemist. I will be utilising as many voices as I have in my arsenal that suit ranging from high ranking charismatic and cruel Mother Matrons to a lowly Goblin or a tinkering Svirfneblin. Ambient music from some of your favourite games and media will be used to jam out to, ranging in a variety of themes. Expect dynamic lighting and tactical crunchy combat facing off against some of the creatures of the Underdark and those employed by the Drow and their mix of rangers, spell casters and of course vicious variety of spiders. Expect on your raid to find magical artifacts and items that will assist you in your battle against the Mother Matron.

How Joey The DM creates a safe table

On session 0 I will be sending out a consent form to all players to fill in and also request they message me privately should they have any concerns heading in i.e. if you have a fear of spiders, this is not the game for you. I have a debrief at the end of every session to see how people are doing and we also will be taking a 10 minute break in the middle of the session.
