About the adventure

Step into the galaxy far, far away for a gritty, swashbuckling Star Wars adventure filled with danger, outlaws, and rebellion. The campaign begins on the desert world of Tatooine, where slaves, smugglers, and lowlifes scrape by under the iron grip of the Hutt Cartel. From there, you’ll rise from the dust to steal a ship and carve out a new life among the stars—evading the Empire, defying the Hutts, and chasing freedom in a galaxy that doesn’t care if you live or die. This game is run rules-as-written, with flexibility when the story and fun demand it. I’ll work closely with each player to tie their character’s backstory into the narrative, making sure you feel grounded in the Star Wars universe. Expect a balance of goofing around and serious roleplay, with a focus on teamwork and shared storytelling. Lone wolves and “main character syndrome” won’t fit here—we’re building this story together. New players are welcome, but you’ll be expected to learn your character and the basics of the system as we go. If you love the grit of Star Wars’ underworld, or dream of scoundrels rising up against crime lords and the Empire alike, this game is for you.

About me

I have been a game master for private games for 7 years now and have run and completed multiple campaigns including numerous homebrew campaigns as well as a few d&d campaigns such as Rime of the Frostmaiden, Lost Mines of Phandelver, Curse of Strahd, and Out of the Abyss. I am familiar with several game systems including D&D 5e, Star Wars Saga Edition, Pathfinder, Starfinder, and Wrath and Glory. As a 3d modeler I spend most of my days creating characters and monsters for the games I run, and it affords me a lot of time to think about stories and encounters to present to my players.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will have a session 0 with all players (free of charge) to get to know each other and go over the campaign and expectations. I will have players create their level 1 characters and backgrounds and work with them one-on-one to make it fit the world.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will be using Talespire, Discord, and the SWSE Fandom site for resources. I will also model fully custom 3d characters for each player and import them to Talespire fully colored. If a player cannot run Talespire on their computer then we will stream battle encounters for that player to see the map.

What Velrock brings to the table

I do voices for characters, run rules as written, provide music and ambience through Kenku, and will bend the rules in favor of players if any reasonable requests come up. There will be a healthy blend of combat and roleplay.

Homebrew rules

We will see about homebrew rules in session 0, if anyone has suggestions I will ask them to bring it up at the time.

How Velrock creates a safe table

If there is a lot of content that triggers you, this is probably not the game for you. That being said, while it is mostly a swashbuckling adventure, themes such as slavery and classism will be prominent due to the setting. Obviously I'm not going to intentionally make anyone uncomfortable and if someone has a problem with something, within reason, I will do everything I can to alleviate the issue. We will have a session 0 where I will go over rules and get input from all players, so we know what lines not to cross. If a player takes issue with anything going in the game, I am someone they can reach out to discuss it, I don't want players to ever feel like they can't talk to me.
