About the adventure

The lands of Thylea are as ancient as they are mysterious, once ruled by the terrible Twin Titans before the arrival of man, and the famous Dragonlords--powerful warriors who rode atop mighty dragons in order to deliver peace to the world. That war might have continued in perpetuity, were it not for the Oath of Peace, preventing the two diametrically opposed forces, backed by the arrival of the Five Gods, from directly harming one another. That oath has stood proud for nearly 500 years, and now.. it has begun to weaken. The forces of the Titans and their corrupt spawn continue to grow in power, especially in the wake of the Great Prophecy, uttered by the Oracle, Versi--the same legendary creature who brokered the Oath of Peace many years prior. It prophesizes the doom of all things at the hands of the twins Sydon and Lutheria. Will you accept the mantle of becoming Thylea's heroes? Will you take fame in stride and protect the realm from devastation? Or will you side with the Titans and watch the world burn for their crimes?

About me

Hello! My name's Hazel. I'm 23 years old, and I've spent nearly 12 years roleplaying across different venues before falling in love with Dungeons and Dragons six years ago. I've played in many games--homebrew worlds, pre-set modules, and as of last year I began DMing on my own. I value narrative and player roleplay over all else, encouraging my parties to connect with one another and form long-lasting bonds in as many ways as I can manage. I want my players to feel like the main characters of their stories, because they are actively writing it alongside me--though that is not to say that there are not proper consequences. In every campaign, I strive to breathe life into the setting, to make NPCs feel like real people, not quest givers. Do you like to spend hours cultivating a glorious backstory? That's perfect, I'd love to read it. Do you prefer to make a character and see how the story develops from there? Awesome, I just hope you're okay with me throwing curveballs your way. :)

Character creation

Creating your character

Before session 0, players will have access to a whole host of information that I will hand out to them, so that inspiration might be given for characters. All characters will be beginning at level 1, and we will be using FoundryVTT for the game, while calling in voice-chat on Discord. Stats will be an alternative version of Standard array, which goes as follows: 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need to make a FoundryVTT account, and join my personal discord server that I will link them to.

What Hazel brings to the table

I strive firstly to create a proper atmosphere--I may not be the world's greatest Voice Actor, but rest assured that I will be doing my best to convey all NPC's in a believable manner. My combat can vary, but this module can be considered 'lethal,' in many ways. However, one can rest assured that I only want my players to succeed, and in no way desire to watch you fail if I can avoid it. Usually, I stick to 'rule of cool,' as long as it is within reason.

Homebrew rules

Alternative standard array for stats, drinking a potion is a bonus action (administering to someone else is still an action). Floating ASI (stat bonuses from backgrounds can be applied to any stat). There is also custom homebrew content related to the campaign that is included.

Safety

How Hazel creates a safe table

During session 0, all players will be given the opportunity to establish their Lines and Veils, at which point they will be added to a list, and will be appropriately brought into account for session planning. If at any point someone is uncomfortable with the scene at-hand, there will be a X button to press, that will temporarily pause the game to allow the problems to be discussed.
