About the adventure

In a world where gangsters and bootleggers are just as common as werewolves and the undead, a group of glory seeking adventurers must come together as the threat to their city grows. They will seek out allies and navigate the halls of power in a city where every shadow may hide a fiend and alleyways may lead to darker dimensions. New players and experienced adventurers are invited to join this Dungeons & Dragons Homebrew setting in a world inspired by noir, cosmic horror, steampunk, and magitech. Featuring a balance of roleplaying and combat, the campaign will focus on players shaping the narrative and world for the stories that interest them.

About me

Hi! I'm a comedian and nerd that loves to play Dungeons & Dragons. I tour across the country DMing a live comedy game featuring comedians as players. I love big and dynamic games where players get to have fun and enjoy their time laughing and having a great experience.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will use the 2024 updated rules for character creation and classes. Players can create a level three character using standard array. A custom campaign will be shared using D&D Beyond with access to the 2024 Player's Handbook and other source books that can be used for creating a character. Further discussion and collaboration around characters will happen during the Session 0 where expectations are set.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need a mic and headset and an area as free of distracting noises as possible. You do not need to be on camera during the session unless you are comfortable. A D&D Beyond account (free is great) will need to be created before Session 0. If you are comfortable creating a character on your own using standard array, you are welcome to come to Session 0 with it, however, I'm happy to help create characters and develop backstories during Session 0.

What Cavin Eggleston brings to the table

Play will be done over Discord and using D&D Beyond Maps. I embrace a rule of cool style that works to create fun and exciting moments for players while also working to maintain a fair environment where players are allowed to shine. Combat is a blend of monsters and environments in order to encourage creative thinking and strategic thought around the best solutions to problems. I will bring multiple vtt ready maps to play, particular during combat, while most non-combat will take place in a theater of the mind experience. I use ambient music and sound effects to create a more immersive experience along with visuals to help create mental pictures. And while I can't guarantee voice actor quality voicing, I do try my hardest to make unique and interesting voices for NPCs.

Safety

How Cavin Eggleston creates a safe table

A google form is sent before session zero to help adapt and adjust content for the players and avoid creating uncomfortable situations before they occur. A system of X, N, & O's is used during the session to help steer potential problem areas to a place where players are comfortable and included.
