About the adventure
Lost Mines of Phandelver is one of the oldest 5e adventures, being run countless times by thousands of DMs for over a decade! You are all hired by one Gundren Rockseeker, a Dwarf who's staked claim to a potential lead on the legendary "Lost Mines of Phandelver;" a mine filled with far more than just riches. Your job starts as a simple one; make a supply run and get some gold upon a successful delivery! But with one hijinx leading into another, you find yourselves drawn into finding the mines themselves! This module is intended to be run from levels 1 to 5, being designed as an introductory adventure to 5e as a whole! As such, I'd like to put my own spin on a few things to give it some new life more than 10 years later! I'll be using a few of the expansions designed for this campaign as well as my own additions, running them all concurrently as a hex-crawl campaign. So if you're brave enough to take on the challenge, step forward! And mark yourselves as one of the many to uncover the Lost Mines of Phandelver.

About me
Hey! The name's Stephen, but you can call me "Bumble" if it suits ya. I've been running various RPG systems, including D&D 5e 2014, Starfinder 1e, FIST, and so on, for the better part of 9 years now. Though I find playing TTRPGs to be fun, what I love the most is running games for players! I like to work with my players and help them learn new things when playing games, be that rulesets, tech tricks with my various tools, or stories as a whole.

Creating your character
For this module, a set of premade characters is provided for those completely unfamiliar with 5e's ruleset, using either the 2014 version or 2024 version of the rules. Should you wish to bring your own character to play, please contact me with any questions that you have! For a brief overview, these are the criteria to follow: - Use 2014 edition content (especially for new players, I recommend sticking with the 2014 Player's Handbook exclusively but it isn't mandatory). - Stats will be gained through Point Buy. You will have 6 stat numbers to assign in whichever stats you need. The numbers are 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8 - Starting equipment only. Keeps things simple! - No specialty backgrounds (ones that give Feats, Spells, etc).
What to expect
Preparing for the session
- Players should have a usable computer and microphone for this game. I will be using Owlbear Rodeo for a Virtual Tabletop alongside its Smoke and Spectre Dynamic Fog of War extension, which will dynamically reveal the map as we play. - Premade characters are prepped and ready. If you wish to play your own character, please contact me so that I may help you. I will also point you towards the character creation rules listed for this game. - We will be using a Voice Call over Discord, so make sure that you have a Discord account.
What Stephen Collins brings to the table
I will be bringing the following to my table: - Character voices for each major NPC (as well as voices for minor ones). - Tactical grid-based combat. Strategy and critical thinking are paramount! - An openness to player creativity. While I try to run as close to the rules as possible, I also want to make sure everyone is able to have fun! As such, I'm a good mix of "rules as written" and "rule of cool." - Premade characters as an option for those who would like them! A premade is encouraged for new players but is not mandatory. - If making a character, only content from prior to the 2024 version of the 5e ruleset.
Homebrew rules
Any homebrew that is utilized will be discussed during session! I have a few resources I can grab, but would like to discuss with the party in case folks have suggestions!

How Stephen Collins creates a safe table
I intend to use a chat toolset for Owlbear Rodeo that will give me a notification if a player needs a break, wants to speak, etc. It's known as Rumble Chat, and I can provide a document to read up on it if requested. We will be taking a halfway break during the game to give people time to process the session, and will be operating on an Open Door policy such that if you need to step away you are more than welcome to! Just please let me know in some way, such as through discord DMs. Details not needed, but it helps me when running!
