About the adventure

Who Will Fight the Darkness? An unnatural darkness blots out the sun as Orcs march to war again with their new powerful allies: the Drow (evil elves). Rumours spread of a new goddess of magic, the leader of this dark alliance between Orcs and Drow: one that seeks domination and control through the destruction of everything you hold dear. War of Everlasting Darkness is a heroic fantasy adventure that takes place in D&D's Forgotten Realms setting. You'll travel to memorable locations like the Dwarven stronghold: Mithral Hall, the Orc homelands at the 'Spine of the World Mountains', and the city of Silverymoon. Here you'll explore a land under siege, form alliances, uncover dangerous secrets, all while finding magical relics to push back against the rising darkness. It's a perfect length adventure for committed beginners. I teach the basics as we play, focusing on teamwork and creating cinematic experiences as your character becomes the hero protecting the realm from its destruction. Most beginner games stop just when your class starts to get really good. In this campaign we play through levels 1-8. You'll get to experience your subclass, feats, extra attacks and more! At the end of the campaign you'll be ready for higher level adventures with a true sense of accomplishment, and a grasp of complex game mechanics.

About me

Beginner-friendly + Epic Adventures | D&D 5e with Creativity & Heart I specialize in creating welcoming, inclusive and beginner-friendly D&D tables that balance player freedom with strong story-telling immersion and pacing. Whether its your first campaign or you’re returning experienced player, my goal is to make sure everyone feels supported, engaged, and excited to play together. 2026: Welcome to the Year of the Drow! Every year I run a new theme, so returning players always get something fresh while beginners get a focused learning experience featuring classic enemies and memorable locations without becoming overwhelmed. This year is all about the infamous Spider Queen Lolth and the indoctrinated Drow that worship her. Cruel, power-hungry, and dangerously intelligent, Lolth's Drow are a force to be reckoned with. Each campaign will heavily feature classic drow villains, plots of dark intrigue, and intense combat all set in unforgettable locations in the Forgotten Realms. A little bit about me: Once I played my first Dungeons and Dragons game in 2014 with 5th ed. I knew there was no going back, I was hooked immediately. To me there is nothing more thrilling than watching a group of us wonderful misfits and mavericks team up to become epic heroes on an adventure we build together. I’ve been in love with fantasy and sci-fi since I can remember and have a deep abiding love for both Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. In my down time you might find me listening to ridiculously loud music while knitting, saving the world as Commander Shepard or more recently Tav, watching a murder mystery, and if it’s the holidays I’ve probably already started a rewatch of either LOTR, Star Wars or both. Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will take place during Session 0 using Roll20. Materials included in Roll20 for character creation are: 2014 D&D 5e Player’s Handbook, Xanathar's Guide to Everything, & Tasha's Cauldron of Everything. If you own other official D&D 5th ed. books (pre 2024) that you'd like to use for character creation we can make sure to add those to your game. All characters will begin at Level 1 using the standard stat array. Premade characters will be available for anyone who wants to jump in quickly or are brand new to D&D. If you’d like extra support, I’m also happy to meet before Session 0 to help you create your character or talk through concepts and options.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

1. Create a free Discord account and be ready to join my Discord server (invite link provided after signup). For the best user experience I recommend downloading the discord app instead of using the web-browser. 2. Create a free Roll20 account for maps, character sheets, and gameplay 3. Make sure you have: * A computer or laptop with a working mouse and keyboard * Stable internet connection * Headphones and a working microphone * Webcam: A webcam is only suggested for the initial meet-and-greet and Session 0. Webcam use is optional and up to each player’s comfort level.

What Britt brings to the table

I provide a welcoming, story-driven D&D experience where player choices matter and everyone gets a chance to shine at my table. My GM style embraces the Rule of Cool for naturally rolled 1s & 20's, while still respecting the rules to keep the game fair and consistent. I teach game mechanics as we play, making this a beginner-friendly table while keeping it interesting for experienced players. Above all, I prioritize teamwork, clear communication, and a supportive table culture where creativity is encouraged and everyone feels comfortable taking part. I run this adventure on the VTT (Virtual Table Top) Roll20. That means beautiful artwork, detailed maps, hidden secrets, handouts (no more note-taking for players!), character artwork and custom tokens.

Homebrew rules

Campaign Structure & Rules Originally released through Dungeons & Dragons Encounters, War of Everlasting Darkness is a heroic tier adventure made up of connected adventures that together tell a larger, epic story. There are eight "episodes" in total in this campaign. The milestone levelling rewards a level when an episode has reached its conclusion. It ends up feeling like a mini-television series event with each episode its own rewarding adventure. Enemies and combat encounters have been updated to 2014 5th Edition stats to provide a rewarding and balanced challenge. The campaign is planned for 10–16 sessions, with pacing adjusted based on player feedback to ensure a satisfying story arc.

Safety

How Britt creates a safe table

This is a welcoming and LGBTQ+ friendly space. Player safety and comfort are a priority at my table. During Session 0, we’ll review all of the safety tools chosen, with full resources available in our private Discord server. The player survey I send out also provides a link to the Monte Cook RPG Consent Checklist. Survey results are used to create the campaigns Lines and Veils. While the Lines and Veils may be shared when necessary with players, all contributions remain anonymous. We use the X, N, & O card system, with digital options for no-camera sessions. Each session includes a 10-minute break halfway through, and aftercare or check-ins are used when intense moments arise. Stars and Wishes may be submitted privately after each session. Harmful behaviour is not tolerated. Players who refuse to stop harmful behaviour will be removed from the session; a second offence results in removal from the campaign. Hate speech, racism, discrimination, or real-world threats have zero tolerance and result in immediate dismissal.
