About the adventure
Step into the world of Daggerheart, the brand-new fantasy RPG from Critical Role! In this beginner-friendly one-shot, you'll take on the role of a messenger tasked with delivering an important package through the mysterious Sablewood Forest. Of course, the forest has other plans. Mischievous spirits, shifting paths, emotional magic, and unexpected dangers turn a simple delivery run into a memorable crash course in Daggerheart’s core mechanics. Whether you're checking out the system for the first time, switching over from D&D, or brand new to tabletop RPGs entirely, this session is designed to teach you the rules as you play in a fun, low-pressure environment. You'll roll Hope and Fear dice, navigate narrative Zones instead of strict grids, and discover how your character's Calling shapes the story. Expect a great mix of roleplay, exploration, teamwork, and fast-paced encounters. You don't need to know anything about the game beforehand—I'll walk you through the rules and make sure you always know your options.

Meet the Game Master
About me
I’m a disciplined, systems‑driven Dungeon Master who blends tight mechanical clarity with immersive storytelling, when in doubt Rule of Cool always wins . My background in structured planning and scenario‑driven design means my games run smoothly, stay organized, and give every player a chance to shine. I specialize in modular prep, transparent rules, and encounters that feel fair, tactical, and narratively meaningful. I run games that respect your time: clear expectations, consistent pacing, and a focus on collaborative fun. Whether you’re brand new or a veteran optimizer, I’ll meet you where you are and help you feel confident at the table

Creating your character
To get us right into the action, we'll be using pregenerated characters designed specifically for this adventure. Before we begin, you'll choose from a small selection of heroes that highlight different abilities and emotional beats. I'll walk you through your sheet and how your traits work. This gives you a clear window into how Daggerheart characters are built, so you get the best of both worlds: you learn the system quickly, play immediately, and walk away ready to create your own custom hero next time.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Since this is a beginner-friendly adventure, your homework is practically zero! I’ll be providing pregenerated characters and teaching the rules as we play, so you don't need to read the Daggerheart rulebook beforehand unless you really want to. Before the session, just make sure you have a working microphone and a stable internet connection. I'll send you a link to our dedicated Discord server and an invite to our Foundry VTT room. Since the game is hosted on The Forge, you won't need to download any software—you just need a free account to click the link and join the virtual table. Hop in a few minutes early to pick your character, and we'll jump right into the action.
What Kevin brings to the table
I specialize in running games that are welcoming, dynamic, and deeply immersive. My goal is to make learning a new system like Daggerheart feel completely effortless. You don't need to stress over the rulebook—I'll handle the heavy lifting mechanically so you can focus entirely on playing your character and enjoying the story. I use Foundry VTT to provide high-quality maps, lighting, and ambient soundscapes that draw you right into the Sablewood, but I always prioritize the narrative and the "Rule of Cool" over strict mechanics. Whether you want to try a wild stunt in combat or explore a quiet, emotional character beat, I'm here to say "yes, and" to your ideas. Expect a patient teacher, fair encounters, and a table environment where everyone gets their moment to shine. Just bring a mic and a good attitude, and I’ll take care of the rest!

Safety
How Kevin creates a safe table
Creating a space where everyone feels comfortable and respected is my top priority. Daggerheart is a game built on emotional beats and shared storytelling, and that kind of roleplay only works when everyone at the table trusts each other. While I actively use standard safety tools like Lines & Veils and an Open Door policy, creating a safe table goes beyond just checking boxes. It means fostering an environment of kindness, patience, and collaboration. Since this is a space for learning, there is absolutely zero judgment for asking questions, needing rules explained, or just taking a moment to figure out your next move. I maintain a strict zero-tolerance policy for harassment, bigotry, or disruptive behavior. My goal is simple: to make sure you feel empowered to be creative, share the spotlight, and enjoy a fantastic story without any out-of-game stress.
