About the adventure

Low Stress, Leveling Adventure Game. Start as Primes in Wayward Souls, and battle your way through intense conflicts with evolving objectives with twists, turns, and surprises. A modern, multi-cultural city. Firearms aren’t readily available, but somehow the bad guys always seem to have them! Urban fantasy setting, where magic and machines work in tandem. Hardbrook Bay has seen a lot of violence since the Great Conspiracy, and in that chaos, evil organizations rise up once more. To stop them, the government established CAS-TAC, an elite group of yourself and other ace agents. Your country needs your skills. Let them down, and people die.

About me

I'm Arnoux, and I've been running Aeon Roleplay since 2017. Every 6 months, we run a variety of campaigns (adventure, political, mystery, exploration, etc.) in different systems, like D&D 2024. While we may have some one-shots, we mostly run 20 week campaigns, which let us explore character backstories along with a main plot, with usually 1-3 story arcs. For us, that's the perfect slice of roleplaying: enough to really fall in love with a group, but not a commitment that lasts forever. I've run a variety of game systems and even published some of my own, which includes the Definitive Wrestling RPG, a one-shot fave in our community. My favorite part of roleplaying games is taking a player character's backstory and weaving it into the world and the story. There is nothing more rewarding than the feeling of playing a character who feels like they belong and grew up in a setting, rather than just being dropped into it. And if you love that kind of immersion, too, then I can't wait to get you in a game!

Character creation

Creating your character

We'll create characters in Session 0 together to build a cohesive special ops unit of professionals. It would be helpful if you're familiar with the Wayward Souls system and have a good idea of which Core Path you intend to take, but if not: no worries! It'll be a big Session 0 for this one, since we're starting at Prime (Level 2).

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You'll need Roll20 to play the game with us, and Zoom for the session. We also communicate scheduling issues as they come up over Discord. If you don't have the Wayward Souls Rulebook, we can help you out in the Discord, we have a big community for that sort of thing.

What Arnoux brings to the table

This game is going to feature intense tactical combat, with multiple objectives that change during the course of each encounter. As expected, it's going to be a combat heavy game. (Though WWS combats are faster than D&D if you're unfamiliar). I'll be doing voices for the NPCs, but you aren't required to do the same. I'll be following the Rules as Written pretty closely for this one, but don't worry, this is a great game to learn WWS with.

Safety

How Arnoux creates a safe table

It's an 18+ game, where players will face a modern and magical crime syndicate. We'll be using macros for X-Cards, Lines & Veils during a Session 0 to establish what kind of content is off the table, and I'll be sticking around at the end of each session to debrief and chat about any issues. We'll use Junctions, if necessary, to pull players out of the action and into the writing room if things get too heated. And I'll open an anonymous messaging box so that people can send me problems they have with the content that they might be more comfortable saying anonymously and privately.
