About me

I'm Arnoux, and I've been running Aeon Roleplay since 2017. Every 6 months, we run a variety of campaigns (adventure, political, mystery, exploration, etc.) in different systems, like D&D 2024. While we may have some one-shots, we mostly run 20 week campaigns, which let us explore character backstories along with a main plot, with usually 1-3 story arcs. For us, that's the perfect slice of roleplaying: enough to really fall in love with a group, but not a commitment that lasts forever. I've run a variety of game systems and even published some of my own, which includes the Definitive Wrestling RPG, a one-shot fave in our community. My favorite part of roleplaying games is taking a player character's backstory and weaving it into the world and the story. There is nothing more rewarding than the feeling of playing a character who feels like they belong and grew up in a setting, rather than just being dropped into it. And if you love that kind of immersion, too, then I can't wait to get you in a game!

Character creation

Creating your character

We will have a Session 0, where we will build our characters together so that we have a cohesive story with bonded characters. Sessions 0-3 will be free. Allowed books include the Player's Handbook (2024) and Eberron: Forge of the Artificer. Character will be level 6, with 2024 options only!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You should have a Roll20 account to play the game with us, and if you have a Discord account, you can join the server, where we will coordinate and resolve any scheduling issues as they come up. I use Zoom for the game, but you should be able to enter the call without an account.

What Arnoux brings to the table

I run the rules pretty close to RAW, but in a game like this, with far less political interaction, expect a lot of interesting combats, where if players want to do big improvised attacks or tactics, it will be allowed. I do voices, but they aren't very good. I'm mostly proud of my magic item design, and your character will be starting with some and encountering many.

Homebrew rules

We're using the 2014 rules for Stealth in combat. The 2024 rules just don't make sense to me.

Safety

How Arnoux creates a safe table

I plan to use X-Cards, which are built into Roll20's chat integration (we have a macro for it), and I use Junctions (or whatever my group is calling it this season) where a player can prompt us to all exit character and talk OoC about our character's goals, ambitions, and speak more as writers than players.
