About the adventure
The mists of Barovia have swept you far, far away from Faerûn and to this sunken mountain valley of Barovia. A devilishly handsome count watches over the land with a close eye, looking for new subjects to liven the place up a bit and help him achieve his greatest desire. Curse of Strahd is a gothic horror adventure module with mature and potentially upsetting themes. I do my best to accommodate every player at my table, but please take a minute to review the list of potential triggers involved in the game to see if it's a good fit for you. This is a long-term campaign, perfect if you're looking for a new weekly adventure! I should note that I'm running a modified and rebalanced version of the module that ties up loose ends, cliffhangers, unifies the plot, and is a bit easier for newer players.

About me
Hi! I'm Senti (or Jay), I'm 29, a high femme queer, and I've been playing TTRPGs for 10 years, starting out with D&D 5E. I also have experience with 3.5E, Vampire the Masquerade, and Call of Cthulhu. I've been DMing D&D 5E for 5 years, Vampire the Masquerade for 2 years, and Call of Cthulhu for 1 year! I love games focused around a mystery or a whodunit, and I love light elements of drama, romance, and angst. I'm a fiend for roleplay and exploration, and I prefer to run combat-lite games. I got into TTRPGs for the community and friendship I knew I'd find, and I still have 10-year-old (and counting) friendships from my first game I ever played. This is the major reason I got into running games. I always look at TTRPGs as a way to build bridges and friendships and as a way to welcome more people into an accepting and creative community. I prefer to run my games as Rule of Cool focused and plot driven. My main goal as a DM is always to build an enticing adventure to let my players live out their fantasies and dreams. My primary love language is Acts of Service, so I always feel rewarded when I can run a game that my players love.

Creating your character
🌙 Character creation will happen during Session 0, which is free! If you're joining after Session 0, I will meet with you to create a character together. 🌙 Characters will be starting at Level 1. Expansion books available to be used are Tasha's Cauldron of Everything (TCE) and Xanathar's Guide to Everything (XGE). If you want to use anything outside of those books, just run it by me first! If you're joining after the campaign has started, you'll start at whatever level the rest of the party is. 🌙 For this campaign, characters should be either good or neutral aligned. Please avoid loner-types, or at least make them willing to work with the party.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
🌙 We'll be running character sheets and VTT on Roll20, and voice (camera optional) on Discord! If you would prefer to run your character sheet on D&D Beyond, you must still be able to roll into the Roll20 chat. 🌙 All players must complete a consent checklist before playing.
What Senti (Jay) brings to the table
🌙 If you hate slogging through the process of building your character sheet, I'm able to do most of it for you! The grunt work of it, at least. Whatever you DON'T want to do, I'll do it. Just tell me what you want and I'll cover it! Pre-made sheets are also available upon request! We can always tailor it to your character. 🌙 Background music or ambient noise is available upon party request! 🌙 I don't have MANY character voices, but I have ENOUGH to differentiate the different NPCs in a scene! Trust me, I'm actively working towards making this better. 🌙 I definitely tend to lean towards Rule of Cool, as long as you can justify what you want to do. Nothing crazy game-breaking, of course, but some cinematic flavor will almost always get a green flag from me.
Homebrew rules
🌙 Full Healing Potions: Using an action to drink a healing potion grants you max healing; using a bonus action to drink it means you roll your healing. 🌙 Exhausted Spellcasting: If you're out of spell slots, trade the level of the spell for half as many levels of exhaustion. The caster must make a Constitution saving throw. The DC equals 10 + the spell's level. On a failure, the caster still takes the exhaustion levels and must roll a flat d20 to determine the effects of the spell. 🌙 Go Down Swinging (Melee Only): Once per combat, if your character drops to 0 hit points while in melee range of an enemy, they can use a free action to deliver a critical hit in exchange for one failed death save. 🌙 Deal with the Devil: Make a deal with the DM. You can turn any roll into a crit success, but at any time of the DM's choosing, your roll will become a crit fail. This cannot be changed by any abilities or feats, such as Halfling Luck.

Safety
How Senti (Jay) creates a safe table
Note: All safety measures will be explained in more detail during the free Session 0! If you're joining after the campaign has started, I will go over this information with you before you play. 🌙 Consent Checklist: We will be using the Digital RPG Consent Checklist (based on Monte Cook's). I like it because it gives a range of how comfortable you are with certain topics, as well as room to write in your own or elaborate. 🌙 X, N, O: I have a digital set of cards in the Roll20 VTT that are available to all players to throw down anonymously on the table, at any given moment.
