About the adventure

Players new and old can find themselves in the center of a character-based narrative about the impacts of war, love, power, and glory! Our homebrew world is home to multiple campaigns and one-shots. Join us to add to the world lore and write your character's name in the history books! The Realm of Kylmaya is a high-fantasy homebrew world with a rich history. Our story takes place in the human Kingdom of Festovis. Made up of three warring noble houses, each with its own city. Festovis was largely seen as a joke by outsiders until the end of the Dragon War. After years of devastation from dragons, humanoid heroes known as The Champions of Dawn were able to unite Festovis and turn the tide in the war. Fifty years after the war's end, the now united Kingdom of Festovis is home to all sorts of humanoids. You and your companions are a group of young but renowned gladiators working your way up through the city and watching as tensions in the "united houses" rise. What do you seek, and what are you willing to do to get in? Find out in A Taste of Glory!

About me

Hi my name is Patrick! I’m an experienced game master for Dungeons and Dragons 5e. I love homebrew worlds and “rule of cool” additions and actually ran a campaign before ever playing in one. I still play with my friends from home but am looking to expand my horizons, make more D&D friends, and help new players get into the game that I love! I’m currently working towards my bachelor's degree in Film and have a vast background in theatre, acting, and improv. Located in New England and run weekly evening sessions for Eastern Standard Time but I am moving to the UK this fall! Session times are flexible for new games and custom bookings are available at request.

Character creation

Creating your character

Once we have three players we will start with a session zero. Players can come with a character/backstory on D&D Beyond and together we will shape them to match the world and the campaign. Starting at Level Five, any published content on D&D Beyond is fair game and you can join the campaign link first if you want access to my purchases for character creation. After the campaign is under way, new players will have a private session zero with me to loop their character in and welcome them to the game!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will be using discord and D&D Beyond Maps! Make sure you have an account on both, a working microphone and webcam, and come join the fun! Once you sign up, the campaign link on D&D Beyond, and server link on discord will be sent to you!

What Patrick brings to the table

As a DM I am most focused on letting the players shine through their characters and helping to tell an emotionally driven, exciting narrative with stakes and intrigue. I have as much fun as possible every session and do not shy away from roleplaying. Coming from an acting background, I do my best to create distinct voices and impressions for NPCs. To help aid our imaginations and theatre of the mind, I use PocketBard soundscapes and Inkarnate maps to build the world around us! Rules wise I am always willing to use rule of cool when it benefits the party and the narrative! Expect combat every two or three sessions and roleplay throughout. However based on the party’s wants our balance can be adjusted.

Homebrew rules

Critical successes and failures are applicable on all rolls. Death saves are rolled between the fallen player and DM privately. Magic within the world can sometimes operate outside of what’s possible with a singular character. No focus on encumbrance, no focus on spell components

Safety

How Patrick creates a safe table

Session Zero and player meetings will be used to set up boundaries and discuss everyone’s comfortability. Players can message me or speak up in call at any time to pause the current scenario. We will use fade to black for any romance scenes. After each session we have a brief discussion to wind down.
