Creating your character
Please have characters prepared before the session, if you need help with character creation feel free to contact me. We will start at level 1 using standard array for stats. You may use any source material for your character. Your characters will have met prior to the session, consider what may have brought you to the frozen north, the spine of the world, auril's domain. Are you seeking glory? Do you have friends/family suffering under the maiden's curse? Do you already live here? Think of what drove you to join other adventurers on this quest.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We will be utilizing Discord Voice Chat for this campaign(subject to change due to ongoing changes to data collection on Discord's part, if the group wishes to use a different communication form contact the DM). Please have a mic ready, webcam not necessary. This session will be played over TaleSpire a 3d virtual table top with 3d terrain and miniatures. To play you will need to install the GUEST VERSION. Players are not required to own the full game I have 5 player seats. You will get to enjoy the benefits of this table top for no extra charge.
What DMJeff brings to the table
TALESPIRE GUEST SLOTS - I have obtained free slots for players to use in Talespire, no purchase of the program necessary. Via TaleSpire's sound system musical ambience will be utilized. Character miniatures can be chosen from TaleSpire's library. Combat will be fair but encounters in Ice Wind Dale can turn harsh, consider the environment and your class' tools. Death is a possibility. This is a sandbox where anything can happen, it all depends on the choices you make.
Homebrew rules
The main rule I deviate from is potions, you may use them as bonus actions. Otherwise I try to play rules as written. I am flexible with rules if you are creative with your character's actions.

How DMJeff creates a safe table
I want everyone to feel safe and have fun at my table. if there are concepts and themes too much for you (gore, claustrophobia, self harm etc.) please contact me ahead of the game. While Ice Wind Dale is a grimmer setting I am more than happy to adjust the experience for you. And should the experience get too intense in a way you didn't expect you can message me mid game and I will adjust as best I can. Please consider using the Monte Cook RPG Consent Checklist for sending themes you wish be adjusted/removed. the listed content warnings are potential encounters in the Rime of the Frostmaiden book but not necessarily things you may encounter given the size of the sandbox. Anything R rated that a player attempts is subject to Lines and veils. Anything beyond flirting with an npc is a line I would like players to not cross. Any character progression in this area may be subject to a fade to black.
