About the adventure
Nishwam, the Jewel of the West, is a bustling metropolis and trade hub in Ezrahn. Home to the Academy Magicka, various TradeGuilds, a nefarious Thieves Guild, the home base of the mercenary organization, the Highway Guard. Players will be able to gain favor and reputation with any of the various organizations and groups within the city confines. The surrounding environs offer a host of opportunities for adventure, including the Drek Hills, the Forest of Malar, the Wildwood and the foothills of the Trahaearn Mountains. Whether you want to be a monster hunter, mercenary for hire, engage in political intrigue and espionage or a combination of all of the above, you can do it all in Ezrahn, Realm of Aether. In this PlayByPost adventure, you will have the opportunity to mold your corner of Ezrahn (or perhaps even change the entire world). In your FREE Session Zero we will create your character and shape the way they fit into the world. If they want to rub elbows with the elite, skulk the underbelly of the city, or take off and explore the world, this and much more is possible. The only limit is your imagination. This style of campaign is ran via Discord, where you will receive at least one message in your private channel a day moving your story forward. If there should be some life event preventing me from communicating with you (we all get sick sometime) I will be discounting, prorating, or adding a free week to your schedule. I am committed to giving you the immersive story where you are the center of your world, but that the world is also moving and breathing around you.

About me
I’ve been playing D&D for almost 35 years but recently converting to 2024 from 3.5 (I skipped 4th). Utilizing my own homebrew world and fantasy writer experience to bring it and the adventure to life.

Creating your character
We will schedule a Session Zero before your first paid week in order to cover character creation, backstory and goals for your adventure. Stats are 4d6, drop the lowest. You’re supposed to be above average so no stats below 10 base. (Reroll ones or the whole set to achieve this.) Alternative is to use a standard array of 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11. These will be further modified by your Race/Species, and Background. Races(30+) have been customized and expanded and are available on DnDBeyond as homebrew in the campaign link shared in Discord. Starting level will be 1. Can utilize any books shared via campaign, which will be added to as additional resources are purchased. Anything not tied in DndBeyond can be discussed in Discord or during Session Zero. Especially with the Backgrounds, you will find that I have added additional feats to those available than normally shown in the standard PHB. I felt they were too limiting for the endless possibilities that should be available to characters. The best advice I can give you is to review the Character Creation Guide on my website, come up with your concept and initial ideas, and then let's talk in Discord about what kind of story you want to tell and how we will do that. What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need an account on DnDBeyond. You will need daily access to Discord. The expectation is daily checking of the Discord, but no requirement for daily posting if you have nothing you wish to add to the narrative at that moment (for example, if your character is crafting a multi day item, or is unconscious but stable, there is no need to post, "I continue crafting, or I continue laying there unconscious.") - these are things we will skip past narratively as your timeline can accelerate and slow down depending on your actions.
What Andrew Ferrell brings to the table
As a play-by-post, our sessions will go on throughout each week. The game will take place in multiple channels of a Discord (Both an InCharacter and Out of Character channel for your adventure). Additional channels may be added if so needed. The Discord will house the text streams for the gaming, I'll also supplement the experience with visuals for NPCs, maps, items, and other things we will encounter along the way right in the stream. Gameplay details As this will be an continuous campaign over the course of the week, the open door policy will be in place to best accommodate the ongoing experience. I am a firm Ally of the LGBTQ community and will not tolerate TRASH behavior. If you exhibit such behavior you will be removed from the server and no refund will be issued. The following will NOT be featured in my games: Sexual Assault/Non-Consensual Sex Exploitation of Minors Real life imagery of sabotage/destruction [GIFs, Photos, and Videos] Self-Harm, Suicide Ideation Murder Hobos (Let's do something more than this trope, but within reason I am willing to discuss an evil character out to build their evil empire.)
Homebrew rules
Healing Potions • Players may drink a potion from their inventory as a Bonus Action and roll for healing. • Spending their Action (or one of their attacks if they have multiple) to drink the potion confers max healing per type of potion. • To administer a potion to another person requires an Action and confers max healing per potion type. Critical Hits (Nat20 Attack Rolls) • A Natural 20 on an Attack or Spell Attack roll deals additional damage in the form of Max Damage Dice + Relevant Modifier + Rolled Damage Dice. • For example: A Longsword deals 1d8+Str Mod. On a critical hit (Natural 20). This damage would be 8 + STR Mod + 1d8. This is affected by weapon abilities or enchantments as appropriate. • Spell Attack example: Fire Bolt deals 1d10 fire damage normally. On a critical hit (Natural 20) the spell deals 10 + 1d10 Fire Damage. This is affected by the damage increase at higher levels accordingly. Multiclass Extra Rules • Total levels are used to determine Feats/Ability Score Increases (every 4 total levels). Half Rest This applies when a party is able to get most of a Long Rest but something interrupts them and prevents them from finishing the full Long Rest. • Players are able to heal to half of Max Health. • All spellcasters are able to utilize the Arcane Recovery feature. (Regain a number of spell slots equal to half your level -round down.) • Players do not recover levels of exhaustion. • Any other abilities/features that reset on a Long Rest are recovered. Changing Weapons To swap weapons, a player may drop their current weapon and draw a second one as a free action. To sheathe/stow one weapon and draw a second requires an action. Standing from Prone Provokes an Attack of Opportunity from any enemy within melee range.
