About the adventure

BEGINNER FRIENDLY - CHARACTER-DRIVEN - ROLEPLAY HEAVY CAMPAIGN - SET IN EBERRON! Once a kingdom of culture and wealth, Cyre is now a haunted wasteland known as the Mournland. Its people survive as refugees across Khorvaire. Many have gathered in New Cyre, a fragile settlement on the border of Breland and the goblinoid nation of Darguun. Here politics, ambition, and desperation collide. This campaign explores the aftermath of the Last War — and the mysteries still lurking in the Mournland. Your choices will shape the story.

About me

Father, husband, nerd—and most importantly, Game Master. I primarily run Dungeons & Dragons campaigns with a strong focus on narrative and character-driven choices. My tables are cinematic and tend to have a healthy dose of roleplay and exploration, with meaningful combat that matters to the story. You can also expect plenty of terrible accents—delivered almost exclusively by me.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character concepts and party cohesion will be discussed on Discord prior to Session 0. The GM can assist with character creation as needed. Characters will begin at level 1, using the point buy or standard array method for stats, and taking the standard equipment for their class and background. Characters will be flawed and have secrets to bear. Their morality may be blurred slightly but they are not truly evil. They should have (at the very least): a goal, a flaw, a secret, and a reason to be travelling to or already inside New Cyre. Players will build their characters in Roll20 - assistance is available for this. All the options in the 2024 Players Handbook are available, as well as options from the Eberron: Rising from the Last War setting guide. They will be level 1 but will progress quickly to level 3 - unlocking subclass choices.

The current party

The plan is to begin this campaign in April.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Webcam, mic, and headphones will be required and players are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the rules of play prior to Session 0 - the free basic rules for 2024 5e D&D are available on D&D Beyond completely free!

What Kade brings to the table

Access to the Roll20 VTT, mood appropriate ambient music, and all other ingredients of an immersive narrative will be provided. I also offer a Discord text channel to facilitate group communications, and a video channel for gameplay. Also, if all players agree and consent, sessions can be recorded and uploaded to my YouTube channel - RoleFour.

Homebrew rules

Death saves get more deadly each time you go down. Death is real, resurrection is rare and expensive.

Safety

How Kade creates a safe table

A break will be offered approximately halfway through each session and X cards can be used to indicate uncomfortable content. Sessions will aim to end with enough time to debrief and reflect on the game, and Stars & Wishes can be given to highlight things we enjoyed and things we'd like to see in future.
