About the adventure
A fight against insurmountable odds was never part of the plan, and yet it is something your party has to face. You cannot keep running in the mountains - if the hunters don't eventually reach you, cold and starvation will. Your party is bloodied and on the edge. The safehouse you find is not what you hoped for - the blood on the ground and walls is a bad sign, and the resources it offers leave a lot to be desired. It is not an ideal place to defend, but it has a roof and walls. This will have to do. You will have no better chances than here. The odds are against you, but perhaps you may yet turn this around. You have only a limited time to prepare before whoever is hunting you is here. You will make most of it. You will not die here. Not even though the world seems to want so. You look at your party. Their skills and abilities are central to the party's survival. If you just find the right combination, you may all yet survive. The house provides little, but perhaps that little is enough. A plan must be formed. Preparations must be made. And someone is going to have to invrestigate the foul smell and the odd sounds that are coming from the cellar... Survival. Planning. Decisions. Roleplay. Combat. All wrapped around a single-location one shot with one goal: beat the odds to survive. Collaboration is key and combining variety of different skills is essential. A direct combat is unwinnable and so the enemy has to be taken by surprise. You do not have the power, nor the numbers, not ideal equipment nor health to your advantage, but you have something better. You have time, you have variety of skills and you have each other. And nothing can beat a strong party where people take care of each other. YOU MUST STAY TOGETHER!

Meet the Game Master
About me
AS A PERSON? I am a professional actor from Finland, a university-certified nerd, a life-long gamer and an undeniable geek. I'm a dog person, film-maker, collaborator and I enjoy long conversations in the dead of night while staring at the beautiful star-lit sky (or more often, my less-beautiful, not-at-all-star-lit ceiling). AS A GAME MASTER? I have been GM'ing games for a little over 2 years now and playing dnd for almost 5 years, dnd 5e having been the very first edition I ever played, so still relatively fresh and enthusiastic about this wonderful community. MY MAIN STRENGHTS are in story-focused games where roleplaying and combat are in focus, the NPC's have a variety of voices from weirdly goofy to harsh and dark, and equally tragic backstories. I love to put the player's characters and their backstories to the front and centre, in both heartwarming and grim ways. I MAKE MY OWN MAPS AND DESIGN HOMEBREW GAMES in hopes of giving you a chance to play something you've never played before. I bring my skills and knowledge as an actor and a writer to the forefront in order to give you the best experience that I can. WHAT KIND OF GAMES AND STORIES DO I LIKE TO RUN? I like morally grey decisions, goofy and weird situations, and using the game to explore variety of topics. I like to focus on decisions, role play and combat, with occasional puzzle here and there. At one moment you are healed by a joyfully singing cupcake dancing atop your head, while a moment later death comes to collect your siblings because they pissed of an elder god or sold her soul to a devil. Whether you are looking for a lighthearted escapist fantasy, a dark story where you are the only light and hope, confronting what it means to be alive or a combination of all, I might have just the game for you.

Creating your character
Create a LVL 5 hero. Multiclassing is allowed, too. Use any character options from DND 2024, Unearthed Arcana Play Tests of DND 2024, or DND 5e. You can use any character from a different campaign or create a new character. Only homebrew is not allowed. When preparing a character, you can follow the next steps: 1) Choose any character class/subclass option from DND 2024, Unearthed Arcana Play Tests of DND 2024, or DND 5e. Only homebrew classes and subclasses are not accepted. 2) Ability scores. Roll using d6's, use standard point-by system, or allocate these numbers to your chosen ability scores: 20, 18, 16, 10, 8, 8 3) Choose any species or background. Instead of following the background (2024) or species (5e) rules for additional ability points, simply add +2 and +1 to any separate ability scores you wish. 4) Choose any origin feat at level 1 and another feat (or ability score increase) for level 4. 5) Make your equipment and other choices. There is no need for gold or money in this One Shot. 6) If you have any questions, feel free to message or email me.

What Lauri brings to the table
-Self-made homebrew One Shot -Self-made maps using Incarnate Mapmaker (no AI) -Music and soundscape selected spesifically for this story -Over a decade of experience as an actor to provide unique voices and performances as NPC's and the GM narrator. -A mix of comedy, mystery and suspense (and maybe even horror) -Enthusiastic, caring, welcoming atmosphere
Homebrew rules
-DND 2024 rules (including potion drinking, feeding a potions and Help action all being bonus actions) -Inspiration points allow you to re-roll any d20 test instead of adding a d6 or d8 to the roll (Baldurs Gate 3 -style) -Massive damage: dealing damage more than 1/2 of max hitpoints causes an injury based on random injury table. -Stealth Kills: If you succeed on a stealth check and manage to hit an enemy without them being aware of you, you add +50dmg to your roll. Rogues have a better version of this, and for Rogue Assassins I have an even better surprise waiting for them. -Un-Counted Arrows: regular arrows are unlimited -Coyote Time: If a character gets pushed or otherwise begins to fall 15ft or more, they can delay the falling until the end of their next/current turn, giving them a chance to rescue themselves mid-falling. If they fall only 10ft or less, the fall happens instantly. -Alternative Death Saving Throws: On each turn while downed, you can either roll for success/failure, or alternatively give another player an inspiration while you gain a failure. Upon being resurrected, you have a 50/50 chance of getting either an inspiration point or an injury. (Inspired by Critical Role Campaign 4 homebrew rule) -Friendly Inspiration: Each player has an inspiration point which they may gift to another player in a moment they think is narratively satisfying.

How Lauri creates a safe table
Before The Game: Please message me or email me if there are any conent lines or vails you wish me to know about, anything you are not comfortable with seeing on the table or confronting during the story. During the Game: There will be no Session 0, but we will start with a short catch up, talking about any wishes or worries we may have and any content limits we are uncomfortable with during the game. At any point you can wish to step out and take a break. If something happens during the game you are not comfortable with or makes you feel unsafe, you have the right to pause the game and ask the GM/players to change what is currently happening. I promote kidness, empathy and collaboration between everyone at the table and I expect everyone to be kind and respectful towars onre another. Mistakes happen and mistakes are allowed, as long as genuine appoliges are made and everyone plays with the intention of creating the best possible experience for one another. Everyone's safety is the utmost priority. The second is story and having a good time.
