About the adventure

A dilapidated home, a mysterious fog, and no initial way out. Do you have what it takes to find the secrets within and escape, or become a memory? This immersive, high-stakes Gothic horror one-shot is the perfect entry point for new players eager to master the updated 2024 D&D rules in a classic, atmospheric setting. As your Level 2 party finds themselves at The Death House, you will learn the ropes of tactical combat, the new Weapon Mastery system, and the power of Heroic Inspiration through hands-on play. Whether you are picking up the dice for the first time or transitioning from the older rules, this 3–5 hour session offers a supportive environment to learn the mechanics of survival, resource management, and cooperative storytelling. Come prepared to uncover the tragic history of a house that is very much alive, where clever thinking is rewarded and every discovery brings you one step closer to the truth—or your doom.

About me

My name is Dancing Maniac, and I’ve spent the last 7 years behind the screen turning strangers into legendary adventuring parties. To me, DMing is a collaborative dance where everyone is here for one reason: to have a great time. I am a dedicated advocate for safe, inclusive, and diverse tables. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community myself, my games are a judgment-free zone where your identity is respected and your creativity is celebrated.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters are going to start at Level 2. After successfully joining the campaign, I will reach out to you asking if you want a pre-created character or to make one yourself. If a player wants to create their own character, I will send them a guide for them to fill out for me on what they want their character to be (in the easiest of ways) and I will take it from there so that there is no stress and they can jump right into playing.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players should have a Discord account to that way we can communicate with each other and communicate live during the session (voice only. no video). Players should also have accounts on The Forge

What DancingManiac brings to the table

I provide a high-production, cinematic gateway into tabletop gaming where the "Rule of Cool" always takes precedence over rigid book-learning. You won’t just be staring at a static grid; you’ll be playing on fully animated 3D environments, dynamic weather, and integrated ambient soundscapes that make the world feel alive. My GM style is patient and encouraging—I specialize in teaching the mechanics of Foundry VTT and the rules of the game seamlessly as we play, so you never feel overwhelmed by a character sheet. Expect a curated mix of "theatrical" NPC voices and tactical combat that feels intense but fair. Whether we are navigating a high-stakes social encounter or a gritty dungeon crawl, my goal is to provide a "professional-grade" session where your creativity is rewarded, and the technical hurdles are handled for you.

Safety

How DancingManiac creates a safe table

When I do my initial reach out to you as a player in your welcome message there will be a safety form for you to fill out where you can tell me what your lines and veils are. I want this to be a comfortable experience for everyone. I will also be integrating digital X,N, & O's for players to use in real time to keep track of anything that might make them feel uncomfortable.
