About the adventure

As the quiet village of Glimmerwick prepares for the Gloomtide festival, whispers of ghostly figures and disturbed graves unsettle the villagers. Candlelight flickers in every window, but shadows stir in the streets. Something is wrong here, and if you, Hero, can figure it out, perhaps you can save more than this tiny village from the shadows. In this mystery adventure, you will follow leads, gather clues, and piece together the truth behind the strange happenings in Glimmerwick. Along the way, you’ll face tense moments of danger, but the heart of the story is about uncovering secrets and making choices that shape the fate of the village. This game is for you if you: 🕵️ Love social interaction and solving mysteries 😌 Want a beginner-friendly, learn-as-you-go adventure 🌑 Enjoy an atmospheric setting filled with folklore and unease No prior experience is needed: whether you’re brand new to TTRPGs, curious about Draw Steel, or a 5e player looking for something new, you’ll learn as you play.

About me

I was that kid who sat in the sandbox for hours building castles, imagining worlds, making sound effects and talking to myself, late into the afternoon, until I had been bitten by ALL the mosquitoes and it was too dark to see anything. 30 years later, I'm still that kid. Only now, I get to take others along for the ride. As a DM, I have the most fun seeing players meaningfully engage with my world, become attached to it, and in the process become co-creators of an epic story.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need: • Access to a personal computer or laptop with a stable internet connection • Microphone and headphones (earbuds with a microphone works well) • A Discord account (it's free). Then, you'll need to. 1. Join the Discord server 2. Wait for the game! You're welcome to roll with actual dice if you have them. Otherwise, rolls can be handled by Owlbear Rodeo You don't need to read all the rules ahead of time; I'll be explaining as I go.

What Simon brings to the table

• An entirely original adventure 🪄 • Custom battle maps 🗺️ • Immersive ambience and music directly in Discord 🎵 • Art for your character 🎨 • Knowledge of the rules 📖 • I do my best to voice characters, but I'm no voice actor 🧙🏻 • Answers to all of your questions ❓ (Ok, maybe not ALL).

Homebrew rules

We'll only be using the core rules. I will help you learn those rules during the game, so questions are encouraged. I will do my best to explain the rules while still keeping the game moving.

Safety

How Simon creates a safe table

I believe in role-playing in a safe and supportive environment, so open table discussions are encouraged. Draw Steel is a combat-centric game, and in combat, opponent death is frequent, but I won't describe those deaths in gory detail. You are always free to step away, no questions asked, and my door is always open after the game to discuss anything that concerns you. During the game, we may take a short break to help everyone stay relaxed and fresh.
