About the adventure

A deadly Death Curse grips the world, trapping souls and draining the living who once escaped death by magic. To uncover its source, a band of adventurers ventures into the perilous jungles of Chult—where dinosaurs roam, the undead rise, and rival factions lurk in every shadow. As alliances blur and danger mounts, the heroes must brave ancient ruins and gather powerful artifacts to enter a legendary, trap‑laden dungeon. Few who enter survive, but within its depths lies the Soulmonger—the key to ending the curse and freeing the stolen souls before time runs out.

About me

I grew up in the 80s and 90s, in a golden age of comic books, horror movies, fantasy and sci-fi tv shows and of course tabletop role-playing games. Though I didn't get to play as much as I wanted to as a kid, joining randoms groups at the local comic shop whenever I could, I found that as an adult I could play as much as I wanted as a forever DM. I have been running campaigns and one-shots for friends and family members for the last five years. I enjoy a variety of games but have found that most of my players gravitate toward Dungeons & Dragons. In terms of fantasy, I am inspired by authors like Jack Vance, Michael Moorcock and Andrzej Sapkowski. I lean more toward elements of horror and value roleplaying and character interaction more than combat scenarios but understand the feeling of victory after a great battle. I also know the value of the social elements of playing TTRPGs and how more people found a new creative and social outlet most recently through the pandemic. I see roleplaying as an escape from the stresses of reality, an opportunity to express oneself creatively and artistically and a cooperative storytelling exercise that builds lasting memories.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will be built on D&D Beyond before Session 0 which we will use to balance party and solidify backstory for the party. Starting level is five using standard array for ability score generation. Class, Background and Species should be chosen from 2024 Core and Expanded Rules. To include species native to Chult, Aarakocra, Goblins, Grung and Tabaxi from 2014 Expanded Rules may be used.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need accounts for D&D Beyond and Discord.

What Rexenstein brings to the table

In order to immerse you in the adventure I use character voices, ambient music and sound effects. I encourage and reward creativity and the embodiment of your character. The adventure will include exploration, puzzle solving, and no small amount of combat. Most importantly I want to build a table of avid role-players that can truly lose themselves within the world.

Homebrew rules

There will be blind rolls for navigating the jungle and death saves.
