About the adventure
You're no hero. You are a primitive tribesman living on the edge of civiization, Descendent of the survivors of a long past catastrophe. You've grown up with the legends of The Ghost Ice, a titanic glacier at the northernmost end of the tribe's wintering grounds. One night after eons of silent sentry, The face of The Ghost Ice came crashing down into broken mountainous piles revealing two small dark holes halfway up the enormous glacier. Having just come of age You have been selected by the tribe leaders to ascend The Ghost Ice, enter the holes and see if the evil spirits inside have departed. DCC is a gonzo heavy metal D20 Table Top RPG. Magic is wild, dungeons are lethal and mortality rates are high in this cut-to-the chase high octane dungeon crawl adventure. If you're familiar with most popular TTRPG of all time, you'll learn DCC in no time. Players will learn to play a DCC 0-level adventure with Dungeon Judge Trusty Justin. The first 30 minutes of the game will be a brief overview of the rules, followed by jumping right into the game and learning by playing. Each player begins the game with four 0-level characters. All of their stats, occupations, equipment and luck modifiers are generated randomly. It is expected that each player will lose at least some or most of their characters during the adventure. The plucky survivors however, will become the 1st-level party of heroes. Don't let the four characters per player scare you, DCC rules are very streamlined, easy to learn and fun to play. There are some funky dice involved but fear not, if you don't have the d16 or the d5 or whatever, we have online rollers for that. Although not a requirement in a Learn to Play, diligent players can check out a PDF of the quickstart rules from Goodman Games here: https://goodman-games.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/DCC_QSR_Free.pdf

About me
Hi there, my name is Justin, I am a visual artist, comics creator and Dungeon Judge. I've played a ton of systems from TMNT to D&D. I have a preference towards some of the more old school systems, and am primarily looking to run Dungeon Crawl Classics, Mutant Crawl Classics or XCrawl. I've run D&D and DCC for friends and family for over a decade and am just dipping my toes into running games for the public. DCC organized play launches this year (2026), so I'm especially excited to start running some DCC organized play games with you. I am a total acolyte for the system and am happy to teach/welcome new players.

What to expect
Preparing for the session
Invitations will be given to Discord and Owlbear rodeo. Both are free to join. Optionally, players may wish to read the quick start rules here: https://goodman-games.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/DCC_QSR_Free.pdf
What Trusty Justin brings to the table
I run theater of the mind style games. You will be asked to cast your creative imagination into the characters that you play and to see the world through their eyes. I will describe the environment, the NPCs and the obstacles, and you will describe what your characters do. There is no requirement that you do character voices or heavy role play or anything like that as the adventure is mostly designed around exploration and survival. This Learn to play adventure will cover the basic rules and 0-level funnel play. For level-play players may wish to bring their surviving characters (or choose a level 1 pre gen) and join me or another GM for a Level 1 adventure

How Trusty Justin creates a safe table
This Learn to play adventure is generally PG-13 but I invite you to provide me with your list of Lines (things that you absolutely do not want to see in played out in a roleplaying game) and veils (things that maybe are okay as long as it's "offscreen" or just eluded to") if one exists for you. I reserve time at the end of our game to do a quick check-in and debrief. What did you like, what would you change, Do you have any lingering questions, where to go to keep playing, things like that.
