About the adventure
Welcome to Freeport—the City of Adventure, where pirate knives glint in the alleys and ancient secrets coil beneath the cobblestones. Your story begins the moment you step off the ship: a press gang lunges from the crowd, a frightened young priest begs for help, and a missing librarian’s nightmares hint at something far older than the city itself. What starts as a simple job quickly spirals into a web of cults, conspiracies, and serpent‑haunted ruins. This game blends swashbuckling urban adventure, mystery‑driven investigation, and slow‑burn cosmic dread. Expect tavern brawls, tense interrogations, shadowy temples, and the creeping realization that Freeport’s past is not as dead as its citizens believe. The tone is adventurous but atmospheric—heroes with grit and heart facing dangers that don’t always announce themselves with a roar. I run the table with a focus on player agency, cinematic moments, and collaborative problem‑solving. You’ll have room to roleplay, to chase your own leads, and to shape how your characters respond to the city’s moral gray zones. Combat is fast and tactical, but the real tension comes from choices: who you trust, what you uncover, and how far you’re willing to go when the truth starts staring back. If you enjoy mystery‑first adventures, pirate‑flavored chaos, and a touch of Lovecraftian unease, this is your kind of game. Freeport is loud, dangerous, and full of opportunity—and it’s waiting to see what you’ll make of it.

About me
I've been playing D&D since long before D&D was cool. I got my start in the late 70s with the Basic box set, which at that time included module B1, In Search of the Unknown. I prefer to DM and have run every version of D&D since Basic/AD&D. I mostly run 5E games but also enjoy ShadowDark. My longest-running D&D campaign, set in the World of Greyhawk, has been running for 10 years now and is still going strong. I try to combine the best of Old School and Modern in my games, from dungeon crawling to diversity and inclusion.

Preparing for the session
We will be using Roll20. Please make sure you have an account before game time. I also supply my personal email and mobile number so that you can contact me before the game with any questions and in-game if you are experiencing technical difficulties. This is a "noob friendly" game, so no previous experience or expertise is required for D&D or Roll20!
