About the adventure
Mutant Crawl Classics takes place in the post-apocalyptic world of Terra A.D. thousands of years after the disaster that wiped out a technologically advanced ancient civilization. Mutants, manimals, plantients and pure strain humans band together into tribes for survival. In episode one, players begin with four 0-level hunters or gatherers who must survive a rite of passage in order to advance within the tribe. The rite of passage consists of sending a small band of adventurers out into the world to return with functioning artifacts left behind by the ancient ones. Only the strongest (or the luckiest) will make it back to the tribal village alive. MCC is a highly lethal, often humorous, "gonzo" style of adventuring perfect for players who wish to focus on exploration, survival and immediate action. Characters who survive The Hive of the Overmind will level up and choose a class. The campaign will run as a series of linked adventures (episodes). Each adventure should last 3-6 sessions and new players are invited to jump in and play at the start of an episode or to continue through the entire campaign, leveling up their character. MCC has an "old-school" 70s sci-fi feel, but with a ruleset that is very intuitive and modern. If you have any experience with another d20 system, you will pick it up pretty swiftly. New players encouraged to join.

About me
Hi there, my name is Justin, I am a visual artist, comics creator and Dungeon Judge. I've played a ton of systems from TMNT to D&D. I have a preference towards some of the more old school systems, and am primarily looking to run Dungeon Crawl Classics, Mutant Crawl Classics or XCrawl. I've run D&D and DCC for friends and family for over a decade and am just dipping my toes into running games for the public. DCC organized play launches this year (2026), so I'm especially excited to start running some DCC organized play games with you. I am a total acolyte for the system and am happy to teach/welcome new players.

Creating your character
Players have three options for character creation. Method 1: You get pre-gens Method 2: Use the 0-level party generator at https://purplesorcerer.com/create_mcc.php Leave all options on default and just click "bring forth the radiated" and voila, you have your 0-level characters Method 3: Follow the step by step instructions to roll them up in discord before the game session Character races for level 0 are Pure Strain Humans, Plantients, Mutants or beast-people. Race, stats and classes are all randomly generated.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will receive an invite to the discord server and owlbear rodeo once they are accepted into the campaign. Both sites are free to join. No other prep is required, but if players wish to view a pdf preview of the rules they may do so here: https://www.goodman-games.com/downloads/MCC-Preview-GC15PG.pdf
What Trusty Justin brings to the table
I tend to adhere to rules as written but DCC does provide a ton of flexibility and space for creative interpretation within their rules systems. My monsters are generally smart, and I roll my dice above board and I don't fudge rolls. Games can run highly lethal and back-up characters will be provided if needed.

How Trusty Justin creates a safe table
My games tend to be PG-13 but I also use Lines & Veils and a debrief to ensure player safety and satisfaction Lines and Veils: If one exists message me your list of Lines: things you absolutely do not wish to see played out in the game and veils: things you don't mind being present, but would prefer that they just be eluded to and not gone into detail. Debrief: after the adventure we will have a Quick recap including highlights, lingering questions and clarifications, and what the players would like to see more of/less of. Content warnings make it sound way worse than it is, and bely the light-hearted nature of MCC, but I your fun is paramount, and I do want to be thorough and make sure no one feels surprised or triggered while playing the game.
