About the adventure
Forgotten Crypts is a reimagining of Abomination Vaults For three thousand years, the Dread Beacon stood dark above Fallen Oak. Now it burns again. Forgotten Crypts is a full reimagining of Abomination Vaults, rebuilt within the war-scarred Isle of Cordok. The maps remain — but the story, stakes, and secrets have changed. What was once a haunted dungeon is now an ancient war engine powered by a bound demon corpse and ruled by Athryia, the Bone Imperatrix. This campaign is for players who want more than room-by-room attrition. The dungeon breathes. It surges with unstable energy. Enemies have purpose. Surface events matter. Disappearances in town connect directly to what waits below. The further you descend, the clearer it becomes: this is not a random megadungeon — it is a system on the brink of catastrophic imbalance. Combat uses full Pathfinder 2e tactical clarity — positioning matters, terrain matters, synergy matters — but encounters are designed with space to maneuver, interact, and think. You won’t spend the entire campaign fighting in ten-foot stone closets. Environmental hazards, destructible components, and player-driven solutions are built into major encounters. You will: • Investigate disappearances tied to organized undead raids • Descend into an ancient crypt where necrotic and demonic energies collide • Discover how to destabilize — or weaponize — a demon-powered war engine • Decide whether Athryia dies… or rises again Named NPCs matter. Fallen Oak is not a quest hub — it is a community under threat. People vanish. Families break. Some can be saved. Some cannot. The tone balances creeping dread, tactical intensity, and ancient war-lore revealed piece by piece. This is a dungeon with history. With intent. With a villain who believes she is right. This game is for players who: • Have played Abomination Vaults and want a new experience • Love deep dungeon crawls with narrative weight • Enjoy tactical combat with meaningful environmental interaction • Want secrets layered beneath familiar maps • Appreciate a GM who respects the source material but isn’t afraid to evolve it If you’ve never played Abomination Vaults, this stands on its own. If you have… you’ve never seen it like this. The Dread Beacon burns again. What happens next is up to you.

Meet the Game Master
About me
Hello! I’m Christian—Game Master, worldbuilder, and lifelong tabletop RPG enthusiast with over 30 years of experience behind the screen. Like many of us, I started with Dungeons & Dragons, but over the years my passion for deep worldbuilding, custom monsters, and immersive storytelling led me to Pathfinder 2E and the creation of my own fantasy setting, Chondara—a world I’ve been developing and refining for more than two decades. My goal as a GM is simple: create memorable adventures where players feel like their choices truly matter. I run games that blend tactical combat, rich storytelling, and player-driven decision making. Whether you're a seasoned veteran or brand new to Pathfinder, I focus on making sure every player feels comfortable, engaged, and excited to return for the next session. Outside the table, I’m also the creator behind Beast Foundry, where I design and publish Pathfinder supplements including new ancestries, spells, monsters, and mechanics. Many of my games feature original content and adventures developed through years of running campaigns and refining ideas at the table. If you're looking for a game that combines strong storytelling, meaningful player agency, and well-prepared sessions, you’ll feel right at home here. Let’s roll some dice and build an unforgettable adventure together.

Creating your character
This campaign begins at Level 1 using standard Pathfinder 2e rules with the Free Archetype variant. All official ancestries are mechanically allowed. You may be a lifelong resident of Fallen Oak, a traveler drawn by rumors of the Dread Beacon’s return, a scholar of the Demon Wars, a mercenary seeking coin, or someone chasing something far more personal. What matters most is this: when people began disappearing, you chose to act. This is a heroic campaign set against grim circumstances. The dead are organized. The danger is escalating. Survival is not guaranteed. While morally gray characters are welcome, this is not an evil campaign. Your character should be willing to cooperate, face the threat below, and protect the town — even if their reasons are complicated. PvP, sabotage, and reckless “wander off alone” behavior are not a fit for this game. Forgotten Crypts is dangerous enough without internal conflict. Standard starting wealth applies. Treasure will matter. Preparation will matter. The dungeon is not static — it reacts, it evolves, and it punishes carelessness. Optimization is welcome — I enjoy tactical play — but teamwork, positioning, and smart decision-making will matter far more than squeezing out every numerical bonus. You will: • Investigate organized undead activity threatening Fallen Oak • Interact with NPCs whose survival may depend on your choices • Descend through layered dungeon environments with mechanical and environmental complexity • Face encounters that reward strategy, adaptability, and awareness Retreat is sometimes wise. Information is powerful. Paying attention to clues — especially about how the crypt functions — may determine whether the threat ends permanently… or rises again. Character creation will take place in our Discord server before the first session. I’m happy to help refine concepts or builds so we begin focused and ready. Above all: This is a cooperative story with real stakes. Invest in your character. Respect your fellow players. Actions have consequences — for better or worse. The Dread Beacon burns. Fallen Oak needs heroes.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Getting ready for The Forgotten Crypt is straightforward. Please complete the following before your first session: Pathfinder 2e Rules Familiarity A working understanding of Pathfinder 2e is important. This campaign includes tactical combat and mechanically dynamic encounters. If you’re newer to the system, I’m happy to help with character creation and answer rules questions in advance — just reach out early. Discord Account & Working Microphone We use Discord for voice communication. A clear microphone and stable connection are required. Camera is optional, but audio quality matters. TaleSpire (Free Guest Edition) The game is run in TaleSpire using the free Guest Edition available on Steam. Please download it ahead of time and ensure it runs smoothly on your system before game day. This campaign makes full use of terrain, verticality, and environmental interaction — being comfortable navigating the platform will enhance your experience. Join the Beast Foundry Discord All coordination, scheduling, character creation, and announcements take place in the Beast Foundry Discord server. The link can be found at BeastFoundry.com (scroll to the bottom of the page). Once these steps are complete, you’ll be ready to descend into the Forgotten Crypt. Come prepared. The dungeon will be.
What Christian Chaney brings to the table
I run my games using TaleSpire, a fully 3D virtual tabletop that enhances combat clarity, verticality, and immersion. The Forgotten Crypt is built with intentional terrain, elevation, and environmental interaction — positioning matters, and what you see on the board reflects what’s happening in the world. Here’s what you can expect: Immersive 3D Environments Every battlefield, settlement, and dungeon space is constructed to support both tactical decision-making and atmospheric storytelling. This campaign makes full use of dynamic terrain, destructible elements, and encounter spaces designed to avoid “fight in a phone booth” syndrome. Tactical, Fair, and Dangerous Combat I run Pathfinder 2e with mechanical clarity and respect for the system. Encounters are prepared, intentional, and built to challenge coordinated parties. Creative solutions are encouraged, and I use the rules to enable cool ideas — not shut them down. That said, poor planning has consequences. The dungeon does not pull punches. A Living, Cohesive World The Forgotten Crypt takes place within the larger world of Chondara. Fallen Oak is not just a staging ground — it reacts to your choices. NPCs matter. Events on the surface connect directly to what unfolds below. Strong Pacing & Prepared Sessions I bring decades of GM experience and a deep familiarity with Pathfinder 2e. Sessions are structured, purposeful, and responsive to player action. You won’t be wandering through filler — every layer of the dungeon exists for a reason. Flexible Character Tools You’re welcome to use Pathbuilder, Wanderer’s Guide, or your preferred character management system. I support whatever helps you play efficiently and focus on the game. Organized Communication Discord is used for voice chat, scheduling, character coordination, and between-session updates to keep the campaign smooth and focused. Whether you’re here for tactical depth, layered storytelling, or high-stakes dungeon exploration, you can expect a well-run table with real consequences and meaningful victories.

How Christian Chaney creates a safe table
The Forgotten Crypt is a dark, high-stakes campaign. Danger is real. NPCs can die. Choices have weight. But player comfort always comes first. Before Session One, we’ll align on tone and expectations through Discord discussion. We’ll cover: • Desired tone balance (grim, intense, lighter moments, etc.) • Themes or topics anyone prefers to avoid • Expectations around cooperation and spotlight sharing • Boundaries regarding horror elements This campaign includes undead horror, organized violence, and moral tension — but it is not built on shock value. I do not force uncomfortable content for dramatic effect. If something crosses a line, it can be adjusted without derailing the story. We will use simple, clear communication tools: • Direct message or voice interruption at any time • Open-door policy for stepping away • After-session check-ins if needed You are never required to justify your comfort level. At the same time, this is a cooperative game. Respect for fellow players is non-negotiable. Your fun should never come at someone else’s expense. In decades of running games, my priorities remain consistent: A challenging world. A fair table. A story everyone is excited to continue.
