About the adventure
Rot and rumor cling to the fields of Gristle Hollow, a place where the earth itself seems to recoil from the past. When the harvest blackens on the stalk and the church bell rings though no hand pulls its rope, the townsfolk whisper the same name: the Reverend Harrow, dead these thirty years. Now graves shift under moonlight, crows scream borrowed sermons from the steeple, and a forgotten prayer—one never meant to be heard—has been answered. This one-shot adventure blends American Gothic atmosphere with a collaborative, mystery-first style of play. Players step into a world of creaking porches, crooked gravestones, and faith curdled into fear. Investigation, roleplay, and clue-chasing form the heart of the experience, with puzzles to unravel and combat that punctuates the story rather than overwhelms it. The final confrontation with an undead preacher offers tension, stakes, and a chance for players to shape the fate of a community caught between guilt and graveyard magic. Designed with beginner adventurers in mind, this session rewards curiosity, teamwork, and creative thinking over deep rules mastery. Whether you’re tracking omens, comforting terrified villagers, or piecing together the Reverend’s final, desperate act, every discovery is meant to be shared. The table thrives on collaboration—your ideas, your questions, your wild theories all matter. Describe something bold or clever, and the story will rise to meet you. This game is for players who love narrative-driven mysteries, eerie rural folklore, and the slow, satisfying unraveling of secrets. If you enjoy candlelit tension, moral puzzles, and the thrill of facing down something old and wrong that refuses to stay buried, then Gristle Hollow awaits. Step into the creeping fog, trust your companions, and ring the bell—because something in the dark has already heard you.

About me
Hello! After playing as a character in many 1-shots and campaigns with my friends, I am now taking on the next challenge of DND: becoming a DM! Im a new-ish DM who likes hosting new players and introducing players to DND in low-stress, high fun, community focused games.
View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
After registering for the session, players will be sent the link to create characters using DND Beyond. Character creation can include the following: - Any species or class available from the options provided for DND Beyond (content shared by myself) - Players can select from either the 2014 or 2024 rules. We will blend together these rules as needed in session - Characters should be level 5 - Characters should use Standard Array for assigning skill totals If you have questions regarding class, species, weapons, armor, etc. you are welcome to reach out to pitch the idea or ask about its inclusion!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will need to have accounts for the following sites: - DND Beyond - The Forge - Discord Prior to the session I will send the specific links to access our DND Campaign for character creation, the Discord link for the session, as well as for access to the server through The Forge. Please keep an eye our for this information. We will be utilizing the Foundry VTT system through The Forge. It is recommended that if you have not used Foundry previously that you watch this video to learn the basics: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2iRZ42fcJ0
What Jimmy (Tri-Nerd) brings to the table
This session will include the following: - Foundry VTT. This will include ambient music, lighting, and custom maps for the session! - I am a huge supporter of the Rule of Cool. The standard rules are meant to provide a structure for the game, and then to allow us to play with our characters and the story as is possible! - I am by no means a voice expert... I will tell most of the story/interact with players in my normal voice as a result. Players are welcome and encouraged to speak in their characters voice as they see fit!
Homebrew rules
Some homebrew rules to be aware of: - I support drinking a potion as a bonus action - I am not specifically tied to requiring spell components for lower level spells (unless the party wants to be specific on spell components!)
