About the adventure
A collaborative mystery one-shot for beginner adventurers In the shadowed halls of the Sanctum of the Aeegis an Inquisitor lies dead; her heart torn out, her blood used to scrawl runes no one dares to read. Whispers of a fallen knight and an abyssal pact ripple through the cloisters as fear grips even the faithful. It is here your party arrives—called not as conquerors, but as investigators, seekers of truth within corruption. This adventure is designed with beginner players in mind. It rewards curiosity, collaboration, and creativity rather than encyclopedic rules knowledge. Roleplay and teamwork take center stage, with combat serving as a dramatic punctuation rather than the whole story. Expect a mix of social encounters, clue-hunting, and one climactic fight where your choices matter as much as your dice. As your GM, I believe in the rule of cool—if you describe something epic, dramatic, or clever, I want to make it happen. The focus is on great play, not perfect play. Success comes from how well the group communicates, works together, and builds off one another’s ideas to solve the mystery. Every player has a role to play, every voice has a space in the story, and the tale only comes alive when told together. This is a session for those who love narrative-driven games, team problem-solving, and the thrill of uncovering secrets. Whether you’re a cautious investigator or a bold hero charging into darkness, this one-shot invites you to step into the candlelight, trust your allies, and confront what waits in the shadows. Together, we’ll tell the story of the fallen knight of the Abyss—and perhaps, find redemption buried in the dark.

About me
Hello! After playing as a character in many 1-shots and campaigns with my friends, I am now taking on the next challenge of DND: becoming a DM! Im a new-ish DM who likes hosting new players and introducing players to DND in low-stress, high fun, community focused games.
View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
After registering for the session, players will be sent the link to create characters using DND Beyond. Character creation can include the following: - Any species or class available from the options provided for DND Beyond (content shared by myself) - Players can select from either the 2014 or 2024 rules. We will blend together these rules as needed in session - Characters should be level 3 - Characters should use Standard Array for assigning skill totals If you have questions regarding class, species, weapons, armor, etc. you are welcome to reach out to pitch the idea or ask about its inclusion!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will need to have accounts for the following sites: - DND Beyond - The Forge - Discord Prior to the session I will send the specific links to access our DND Campaign for character creation, the Discord link for the session, as well as for access to the server through The Forge. Please keep an eye our for this information. We will be utilizing the Foundry VTT system through The Forge. It is recommended that if you have not used Foundry previously that you watch this video to learn the basics: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2iRZ42fcJ0
What Jimmy (Tri-Nerd) brings to the table
This session will include the following: - Foundry VTT. This will include ambient music, lighting, and custom maps for the session! - I am a huge supporter of the Rule of Cool. The standard rules are meant to provide a structure for the game, and then to allow us to play with our characters and the story as is possible! - I am by no means a voice expert... I will tell most of the story/interact with players in my normal voice as a result. Players are welcome and encouraged to speak in their characters voice as they see fit!
Homebrew rules
Some homebrew rules to be aware of: - I support drinking a potion as a bonus action - I am not specifically tied to requiring spell components for lower level spells (unless the party wants to be specific on spell components!)
