About the adventure
Between the artic tundra of the Winterra blizzards and the hot Verlusian deserts there lies a little village that's always in bloom...Springmead, a town of innocence, community, bravery and love. The children of the harvest are in grave danger and it's up to you to save them!! Do you like cozy critter stories with lots of heart and meaningful stories? Are you a bit of a theatre kid and like using TTRPGs to tell stories and to flex that creative muscle? Then Springmead has exactly what you need. While combat, puzzles, and strategy are very important to the sessions I run, they all exist to serve the story. I create a safe and fun environment at the table for players to explore ideas and to challenge themselves. The town of Springmead is celebrating their annual Spark Sky Festival! A natural phenomena where magic rains from the sky and scatters enchanted items across the land. The Crimson Brigade is tasked with retrieving these objects to ensure they don't end up in the wrong hands. This year more than most that is of great concern. High Sorcerer Lilit Strongbarrow foresees a localization of activity to befall the Dark Forest this year. What will happen this year if the arcanists projections come true? What dangers await the Crimson Brigade out there... And who are you? Are you a long time vet of the Brigade? A green recruit finally getting their shot? Are you involved with forces outside the Brigade? Maybe you're a troublesome forest sprite who tags along begrudgingly? The choice is yours. Together we will create a tale as heartwarming as it is legendary.

About me
I'm someone with a deep love for storytelling, strategy, and immersive experiences, which naturally led me into the world of tabletop games. I’ve been a game master (GM) for various tabletop role-playing games, and I enjoy creating rich, dynamic worlds that give players room to explore, improvise, and shape the story with their choices. My GMing style is flexible and collaborative—I like to tailor the experience to the players, blending strong narrative arcs with character-driven moments. Beyond RPGs, I have a passion for designing and analyzing games, including working on my own strategy game, Overlords, which combines a large-scale map with tactical, chessboard-like battles. I bring that same level of depth and thoughtfulness into the games I run—whether we’re diving into an epic fantasy tale or navigating a tight, rules-light one-shot. My background in teaching and love of games makes me especially good at onboarding new players and helping everyone feel like their ideas matter at the table.

Creating your character
We will create characters together in a session 0. We will be using the usual D&D classes but we will not be using the standard Species/Background Set up they have. We will work together to custom build a background and abilities that makes sense for the species you choose! You will have your pick from Mice, Rats, Bats, Lizards, Frogs, Birds, Otters, or Raccoons! (and others of course)
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Come to session 0 with an idea of what you'd like to play! I will guide you through the rest of everything you'll need at the session.
What Jim Grant brings to the table
I bring a host of silly voices, lots of ambient music for exploration and intense music for combat. i emphasize the storytelling elements and sometimes will do "Theatre of the mind" for combat but mostly will use visual tools like roll 20 or Talespire for more mechanically involved combat.
Homebrew rules
I employ lots of character specific homebrewed mechanics to scratch itches like crafting enchanting or brewing. I also have homebrew mechanics to make chase sequences, sneak encounters, and certain strategy situations more complex and more fun beyond just a single roll. I will also have a list of items the players to vote on at session 0.
