About the adventure
"Welcome to the edge of the world, where the high stone walls of the Keep stand between a flickering candle of Order and the darkness of the Chaos beyond. You are an adventurer who has chosen a path of fame, glory, or treasure! No matter what you seek, the Borderlands will provide: monsters to slay, enough loot for a decent night's sleep, and even the adoration of the Keep's denizens. Put your best foot forward and be Heroes of the Borderlands." This module is designed specifically for beginners. The three pillars of D&D; Exploration, Social Interaction, and Combat are all present here, making it the perfect place to start your journey. As a sandbox adventure, the story follows the paths we make up along the way. My goal is for you to just jump in and have a ton of fun. If you leave the session wanting more, I’ve done my job. I hope you carry that excitement with you into all your future adventures. What to expect for this one-shot: 1. D&D basics such as how to roll your d20s and what modifiers to add, and how to interact with the world. 2. Choose from five pre-made characters: Cleric, Wizard, Rogue, Fighter, or Barbarian, each representing a different species from the D&D multiverse. 3. 2/4 RP & Exploration, 2/4 Combat 4. Foundry VTT Basics What not to expect: 1. You do not have to RP 2. You do not have to do math 3. ANY form of Hate for any group of people (Let's keep it safe and Welcoming for Everyone)

About me
Hi, my name is Vin. I run both online and offline tables. Locally, I host a one-shot table at a game store for various adventures set in the Forgotten Realms, and more recently Eberron. Online, I host long-term campaigns for friends, coworkers and strangers alike. I am used to creating long narratives with big emotional or storytelling payoff and on the spot improv based on the dice roll. If you want to know more about me! Read further down below. I’ve been running D&D 5e for almost two years, but my first taste of the game was over 20 years ago. One hot summer, I sat with friends in an abandoned swimming pool role-playing heroes and villains without really knowing the rules. It ended with a giant boulder trap wiping us out, and for some reason we never played again. Years later my wife reintroduced me to D&D, and I fell back in love with the imagination and collaboration it sparks. Somewhere along the way I picked up the DM’s chair, and I haven’t looked back. Outside of the game, I’m into horror movies, sci-fi, anime, and fantasy of all kinds. My wife and I are working through Brandon Sanderson’s Stormlight Archive, though my all-time favorite series will always be Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time.

Creating your character
There are 5 premade characters to use, however, if you would like to have your own, that is not a problem! For Custom Character creation on D&D Beyond: 1. Use the 2024 Player's Handbook for Classes, Background & Species 2. Standard Array or Point Buy for Ability Scores. Average HP. 3. Normal equipment based on Class & Background 4. Level 1 start 5. A portrait for your character Direct message me for any questions regarding character creation!
A classic party of a healer/support, tank, and damage is recommended.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Have accounts for: 1. Discord 2. D&D Beyond (if making your own PCs) 3. You do not need a Foundry account Equipment: 1. Good mic (tested and ready to go) 2. Computer running Chrome (or another chromium based browser) 3. Hardware acceleration turned ON Note* Tablet use is possible but you may experience errors. FoundryVTT is highly a automated virtual tabletop with visuals and special sounds and effects: - Digital rolls will auto-calculate the numbers for us (hit, damage, saving throws, etc) at a click of a button - These digital rolls are completely OPTIONAL - If you prefer to roll with real dice please do so, that will always be fun (I trust you) - You may also roll on D&D Beyond using the campaign and I will be able to see those rolls as well
What Vin brings to the table
I will be providing: 1. Foundry VTT (dynamic lighting, visual effects, battle maps, digital dice, music, ambience) 2. Basics of D&D and Foundry 3. Bad voice acting for NPCs
Homebrew rules
I am flexible, I am known to bend the rules a little if it sounds fun. So shenanigans away!

How Vin creates a safe table
I run games with open storytelling, but there are clear boundaries: 1. Lines (these will not appear in the game): - Sexual content, sexual violence, or heavy sexual innuendo - Real-world racism, sexism, misogyny, or anti-LGBTQ+ 2. Veils (may exist, but never in detail): - Torture or extreme violence (cartoonish violence is fine) - Intense gore or body horror 3. Open Door Policy: - Players can step away from the game at any time, for any reason, without explanation. 4. We’ll also use X, N, and O cards so players can check in or stop the action if something feels uncomfortable. You can say it privately in chat, or openly. The goal is to keep the table safe, fun, and welcoming for everyone.
