About the adventure

This oneshot is designed for beginners, but players of all skill levels will be able to have just as much fun in this silly but mechanically crunchy adventure! New players are welcome! Game mechanics will be explained when necessary! The Premise! You and your ragtag party own and operate a restaurant together in a small but boisterous village known as Elmore, and today is the day of an exciting food festival that happens here once a year. Every year, during this festival, a famous food critic comes from out of town to try everything that Elmore has to offer. Their reviews can make or break any restaurant's reputation, and it just so happens that your restaurant got a pretty bad review the year prior due to an embarrassing mishap, while your rivals won 'Best in Elmore'. The review was brutal and your reputation took a beating, but instead of giving up, your party has been working twice as hard to make up for the loss. Now's your chance to show the critic and your rival that your restaurant has what it takes to be the best in Elmore. At least, that was the plan until the morning of the festival arrives and you notice that something has gone awfully awry at your restaurant... The Gameplay! Before the session begins, you will choose 1 of 9 Pre-Gen characters to play as, ranging from all of the 9 core classes of Daggerheart. At the start of the session, you will fill out some collaborative world-building prompts with your party to customize the experience and add some personal / comedic touches to the narrative. This oneshot features a short but exciting adventure with some mystery, combat, roleplay, and of course cooking! The Make a Feast mechanic from the Beast Feast Campaign Frame has been iterated upon and expanded to make the cooking minigame that much more fun and engaging, with new opportunities for strategy and teamplay to get the most out of your dish!

About me

I'm ready to roll some dice, so let's get a party together and make a collaborative story! I'm Keenan Bothma, I've been DMing for the past 10 years and I absolutely love game design, creative writing and nerds doing nerd stuff. It all started as a teen, hopelessly obsessed with D&D, begging friends to play with me. Of course, no one else would take up the mantle of DMing, so I gave it a try and discovered a lifelong hobby along the way.

Character creation

Creating your character

You will be using pre-gen characters for this oneshot which can be found on the discord server once you sign-up for the game. The pre-gens have been maticulously crafted to fit the cozy, cutesy vibe of the game... and there are 9 to choose from, ranging from every class from the core rulebook, like: "Whiskers" the Wildborne Katari Warrior A feisty fella with a nose for trouble! "Hopper" the Seaborne Ribbet Ranger Has legs for days and is literally the best fisherman! "Half-Pint" and "Lucky" the Wanderborne Halfling Rogues A michievous duo with two minds and one brain cell between them! "Ewelia" the Frostborne Ramtop Wizard The hotheaded and hardheaded fireworks connoisseur. "Forest" the Reborne Clank Druid All bark and sometimes bite. A true friend of nature! "Shelly" the Hearthborne Galapa Guardian Recklessly care-free and a welcoming shellter for all! "Fae" the Highborne Faerie Bard A pocket-sized social butterfly! "Shortcake" the Orderborne Dwarf Seraph A witch of tricks and treats with strong hands that make soft dough! and "Bearry" the Loreborne Grizzly Folk Saucier? An avid read of cookbooks who is a SAUCIER - not a SORCERER!

Homebrew rules

- Tag Team Hope Share When initiating Tag Team Actions, players can choose how to distribute the 3 Hope cost between them. Plus, there are no 'per session' restrictions on Tag Team Actions. Downtime actions have been replaced with cooking minigames, and players have different starting gear to better represent the tone of the game.

Safety

How Keenan Bothma creates a safe table

The game will begin with a Phase 0, which is about 30 mins of introducing ourselves, going over lines and veils, establishing characters, and filling in collaborative worldbuilding prompt cards. At the end of the game, I like to linger in the discord call for an extra 15 minutes or so to talk about the game, get feedback and just vibe with the players. We will take very short 5-10 min breaks as necessary during the game.
