About the adventure

Welcome to the Old World — a land of towering cities, dark forests, and deeper shadows. Set in the grim and perilous world of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (4th Edition), the Empire of the Reikland stands at the height of its power — a Renaissance nation of invention, trade, and political intrigue. But under the surface, cracks spread through the foundations. Corruption festers in high places. Cultists whisper prayers to dark gods. And beyond the safety of the roads, beastmen, goblins, and worse bide their time. I’ll be adjusting the story to tie in your backgrounds, personal choices, and moral decisions — meaning the shape of the adventure will depend as much on you as it does on the dice. Whether you arrive as a sellsword, a merchant, a witch hunter, or a coachman, the dangers you face will grow from the life your character has led and the choices you make. Themes of intrigue, mystery, survival, and corruption will weave through the story. You will face tense social encounters, deadly combat, and moments where you must choose between the lesser of two evils. This is a living, reactive world where your actions will have consequences — for you, your companions, and sometimes the fate of whole communities. Whether you are brand new to Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay or a veteran of the Old World, this table will welcome you. You don’t need to know the setting or rules to join — I’ll teach you as we go. If you enjoy gritty adventures with moral complexity, rich roleplay, and the occasional desperate battle for survival, this journey is for you. The Reikland awaits
and the true enemy is closer than you think. After submitting your interest, I will reach out for an interview where we can go over thoughts on your character ideas, group dynamics, and general rules questions. This also gives you an opportunity to figure out if I am the right GM for you, so don't hesitate to ask any questions you can think of of.

About me

I never got into D&D in the early days—it looked too complicated at first glance, and none of my friends played it. We talked about it, but it felt like the final boss of nerd-dom, and even we weren’t ready. What wasn’t too nerdy for our edgy little selves was Vampire: The Masquerade. Nobody wanted to run it, and I fancied myself a decent writer, so I volunteered. That was that—I became the forever GM, and I’ve never looked back. Since then, the world’s come around, and RPGs have gone mainstream. These days, while I’ve run plenty of D&D, I tend to prefer systems like Genesys, Mothership, or Mythic Bastionland—games that prioritize creativity and storytelling over crunch. Not that I'm rules-averse. I just prefer to tell a story instead of refereeing a war game. What keeps me coming back is simple: I love riffing off what players come up with and building weird, memorable stories together. If you like narrative-first adventures, a dash of humor, and a GM who thrives on the unexpected, let’s roll some dice.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will be created in session zero using Foundry's character creation setup. Player's looking to join after the campaign is started will be asked to meet up at some point before their first game in order to get their character's created.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Before we start, there are just a few things you’ll need to get set up: Discord Account – We’ll be using Discord for all in-game voice communication. If you don’t have an account yet, you can create one for free at discord.com. Internet Access – Since this is an online game, you’ll need a stable internet connection. Lag-free goblin fights are much more fun. Microphone & Headset – A decent mic and headphones are essential for clear communication. Please make sure you can mute yourself if background noise becomes an issue. Join the Server – Once you’ve joined the game, I’ll send you an invite to our private Discord server. Pre-Game Chat – We will have a quick “face-to-face” voice chat in Discord before Session 0 (or your first session) to go over the game and make sure our expectations match.

What Krispy Demon brings to the table

You’ll be adventuring through the Old World using Foundry VTT, with fully-featured battlemaps enhanced by dynamic lighting, weather effects, attack sounds, and animations. Expect combat that is fast, brutal, and tactical—every decision matters, and the wrong move can be deadly. I’m not an adversarial GM, but your enemies will fight to win. Sentient foes might retreat if the tide turns against them, while monstrous or beastly creatures may grow more dangerous as they’re cornered. Immersion is at the heart of my games. You’ll hear ambient sounds and music via Discord to bring scenes to life—though you can adjust or mute this if you prefer. This is a roleplay-focused campaign, featuring interactive NPCs with their own goals, desires, and fears. My goal is always to provide a living, breathing world that feels alive and interesting, where your choices ripple through relationships and the story alike. Your characters’ choices, backstories, and actions will shape the journey. I’m more than willing to add new encounters, threads, or even entire side stories to make your characters the true focus of the campaign. I’m also not a “rules lawyer” GM. The rules are a guide, not a cage—if you have a creative idea that stretches them, we’ll see if it can work while keeping the spirit (and balance) of the game intact. I want this to feel like your story, not just another run through a published adventure.

Homebrew rules

We’ll be using expanded and updated rules from Winds of Magic and Up in Arms! to enhance magic and combat in our game. Additionally, there are several optional rules—like Group Advantage and extended test mechanics—that we can discuss and decide on together during Session 0. These rules are designed to add depth and flexibility, but only if the group feels they fit the style of play everyone wants. A post on our discord server lists all active homebrew rules and can be shared during the initial interview.

Safety

How Krispy Demon creates a safe table

In-game, you’ll have access to a simple “X Card” system through a macro that lets you anonymously send a Green, Yellow, or Red alert to the group chat, accompanied by a sound. This lets you discreetly signal if something in the game is troubling you or if you need a break. While I can see who sent the alert privately, I won’t share that information or ask questions about it — my goal is to adjust the game smoothly and respectfully based on your needs. We’ll also discuss boundaries, triggers, and expectations in detail during Session 0, so everyone feels safe and heard from the start. Your wellbeing is essential to creating a fun, inclusive, and immersive experience for all.
