About the adventure

Throughout this introductory campaign, elements from the DnD world of Exandria will be woven into the adventures and lore players interact with. Hints of a mysterious illness that plagues the village of Palebank emerge, sending you on an adventure where you encounter clues, piece together the story behind its origins, and face challenges involving creatures mutated by the sickness all while you explore areas of both natural and unnatural danger. Through this immersive journey into the Greying Wildlands, players will work together to uncover a mystery which creates even more questions than it answers. Challenges range from solving mysteries to battles against icy creatures.

About me

I first discovered tabletop gaming in high school, when a friend dragged me into a weekend Dungeons & Dragons session “just to try it.” I walked in curious—and walked out completely hooked. From there I dove into D&D and Pathfinder, exploring every role I could at the table and falling in love with the collaborative chaos, creativity, and community that TTRPGs make possible. Outside of running games, I’m an avid worldbuilder and lore enthusiast. I love digging into setting history, magic systems, and character backstories just as much as I enjoy improvising the unexpected twists that player choices inspire. My experience as both a player and a GM has given me a well-rounded understanding of what makes a table feel exciting, safe, and engaging for everyone involved. Over the years, tabletop gaming has become more than a hobby for me—it’s a creative outlet, a place for connection, and one of my favorite ways to help people tell stories together. Whether I’m leading a new group through their first adventure or supporting veteran players as they chase bold character arcs, I’m dedicated to making sure everyone leaves the table feeling inspired and excited for what comes next.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will create our characters during Session 0, or the first meeting of this campaign. We will begin at level 1, and stats will be rolled during this session. If you are new to playing, never fear! I can walk you through the entire process of creating a character you will love to play. If you are a veteran character, let me know, and we can cook up something new and fun for you to enjoy :) Characters will be created using the 2024 rules, including origins and subclasses from the 2024 Players Handbook. If you want to create something outside of the PHB, let me know and we can build something together.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

During Session 0, I will walk you through how to create an account on Roll20, if you have never done so before, and then you can join our campaign and build your character sheet within our adventure on Roll20. You don't need anything before hand, other than a desire to be a part of a journey filled with icy mystery!

What Annalisa brings to the table

My GM style is to build a world around the character you have chosen to play and make it as fun and immersive as possible. I have ambient music, and I use a soundboard to indicate noises that you would hear on your adventure. I use specific voices, accents and dialects for various NPCs to help players differentiate and to keep the scene alive. You are welcome to try new voices, or not indulge in voices at all - do whatever you are most comfortable with! I will have my camera on to help with facial expressions and gestures, and I would suggest you do the same! It's much easier to get a feel for a character when we can see whether they are smiling or gasping at a child who ran into a pole.

Homebrew rules

I do have a few Homebrew rules I offer to players during Session 0, just in the spirit of keeping the game fun and engaging: - Drinking a potion is a bonus action; administering a potion to an unconscious character is a full action - When tied for initiative = rollies! - You can cast two spells in a turn if one is a cantrip / innate spell I am open to other suggestions, and we can talk it all out during Session 0!

How Annalisa creates a safe table

During Session 0, I will talk about Line and Veils, and then send out a document to be completed by each player with their Lines and Veils. We will also talk about how to use macros in Roll20 for things like the X card, Fast Forward, or Pause. This is also where we will talk about Stars and Wishes, what kind of adventure you want to go on, and what kind of story you would like to be a part of to make sure the entire party is aligned and understands the tone and vibe of the sessions.
