About the adventure

What is Spire? You are a dark elf. Your home, the towering city of Spire, was occupied by the high elves two hundred years ago. Now, you have joined a secret organization known as the Ministry, a paramilitary cult with a single aim – to overthrow the cruel high elves and restore the drow as the rightful rulers of the city. What – or who – will you sacrifice to achieve your aims? Will you evade the attention of the authorities, or end up shot in the street like so many before you? What's the Mission? This tournament is a rarity. Beylish Who Walks In Mercy is the high elf who is sponsoring this tourney in the lower reaches of Derelictus. Some poor drow have been sentenced to exile in the Heart. A group of knights that had defiled sacred solar pantheon (the religion of the high elves) ground. Beylish seems to want to offer mercy to the lucky winner between these knights in what will most likely be the last tourney they ever joust in. Naturally, upon hearing that a high elf was offering "mercy" for a lucky drow, plenty of others have demanded entry into the tourney. Some with drudges against the knights, others looking to curry favor with their oppressors, still others with the hope that they might escape the squalor of their lives in the lowest reaches of the city. Your cell of the Ministry has been tasked to ascertain why this tourney is taking place, who really benefits, and act upon that information. Will you join the tourney yourselves or operate from the shadows? Will you use it to get closer to your enemies, or burn it all down?

About me

I have 10+ years of GM-ing experience under a variety of different systems. My style is often player lead and focused on interweaving party personal narrative to give each player a real stake in the story. I come to tabletop gaming as a theatre practitioner, playwright, and actor. Nothing says theatre like collaborative storytelling, and I bring that with me into every game I run or play in.

Character creation

Creating your character

Players will make their characters via Roll20 before session 1 and will follow the normal character creation rules found in the Spire sourcebook. They will also choose 1 extra advance (in addition to their Minister extra advance). They may choose one low advance from either that extra advance or the Minister extra advance and gain its refresh. PC bonds will be decided on at the start of the 1st session.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We'll be using Discord for the game, so you should have a discord and a Roll20 account prior to starting.

What Tyler Rossi brings to the table

As far as prep materials, you'll have access to all the source books for you to make your character. I'm a roleplay heavy gm, so expect solid character voices and deep characters. That said, I'm also a GM tonally I feel much aligned with Terry Pratchett. The setting is serious. The tone can certainly be serious. But there will be time for levity and the occasional NPCs that fit that breath of fresh air. There's always going to be an air of danger in the world of Spire. Decisions will sometimes be tough, and it's these moral quandies that make for memorable play. I'm always willing to hear you out on a rule of cool attempt. Spire has a difficulty rating for a reason.

Homebrew rules

As noted above, you'll follow character creation as normal, then you will also choose 1 extra advance (in addition to their Minister extra advance). You may choose one low advance from either that extra advance or the Minister extra advance and gain its refresh. PC bonds will be decided on at the start of the 1st session.
