About the adventure

Monster of the Week is a very approachable system for new players. You can create a character in minutes and everything is rolled using two 6 sided dice. So plunder your favorite game for a couple dice and come join us! Welcome to Wenderbrook, a town in wherever we want to put it. Everyone knows weird things happen here, but no one really knows why. This game will be very loosely based on shows like Stranger Things, Twin Peaks or Eerie Indiana. But this time you get to help shape the town! If you are more of an auditory person, think Redgate and Wolf or Pest Control. This will be a sandbox style game where most of the map and details will be blank until the story or a character needs to fill it out. Wenderbrook awaits! Come get a post card!

About me

I work well with experienced players and new players alike. I love pretty much any game that is Powered by the Apocalypse, but Monster of the Week is very close to my heart. These games are scary, weird, and fun and allow us ordinary day folks to do extraordinary things. I reward risk takers, out of the box thinkers and people who are just trying to figure stuff out. My favorite moments are when the players get so into their characters and start planning and advancing the plot. If you are looking for a fun, welcoming game where character choices matter and the story is told by everyone at the table, then I think I am a great Keeper for you! I value respect above all else. I am here to help you bring your character's best self to the table every time you play. I encourage you to be weird, zany and wacky on every adventure. Let's just have a great time! I do Actual Play games online for charities and podcasts. If you want more specifics on where you can find me, please feel free to reach out! I have been role playing for over 20 years and I have played just about every system you can think of.

Character creation

Creating your character

During session 0 we will develop characters, get to know each other a bit and talk about what kind of game we want to have and most likely introduce players to the first mystery. We will go over move selection, explain the rules if needed. If players are interested, we will play side games which will help us define our setting.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Bring a pencil if you want to take notes. Bring a good attitude. You will need a mic. Bring some dice if you want to roll them.

What Henry brings to the table

This game will almost entirely be Theatre of the Mind. I may provide documents or maps, but they will be very simple. You just need to bring a passing familiarity with discord and some kind of audio set up. I will mostly likely be using my camera, but that is up to you if you want to as well. I have been playing and running TTRPGs for over 20 years. I tend to roll with the rule of cool and just want players to have a good time. I will never beat you with my plot or force players to pursue a story line they do not want to take part in. There will be surprises, laughter, goofiness and some scary moments as well. I will consistently seek out your feedback and advice and try to adapt the game to what you want. I prefer live dice rolls, but will provide a dice roller in channel. I will provide all the tools necessary to play Monster of the Week.

Safety

How Henry creates a safe table

I will have a group document for lines and veils. We will use a specific code (xx) for instance if someone needs to step away. If this happens, we will bring the action to a close and immediately address the saftey measure whenever the affected party is comfortable. This game will be run almost entirely via theatre of the mind. I will use google documents and files which everyone will have access to.
