About the adventure

Get those dogies rolling! You are driving a herd of Texas Longhorns north, facing all the horrors of the Weird West along the way. Hired on as extra hands for a cattle drive, you'll start in southern Texas and you ride north through Roswell, Denver, maybe even Wyoming. In your travels, you will face off against bandits, beasts, bad weather, mad scientists, vengeful shamans, and scarier things besides. Saddle up, pardner! šŸ“… Scheduling is negotiable - feel free to contact me! 0ļøāƒ£ Free onboarding session! šŸŽ“ No prior experience required! šŸ¤ New players always welcome!

About me

Greetings everybody! I am a storyteller at heart who loves all forms of fiction. I run games ranging from pulpy sci-fi to gritty fantasy and everything in between. I especially love weird or non-standard settings. Superheroes in a cyberpunk city? Time-traveling fantasy adventure? Teenagers on a supernatural road trip? I'm all here for it. I believe that tabletop RPGs are a unique storytelling experience where everyone at the table becomes both author and audience to the shared story. Facilitating this shared storytelling experience is my primary goal as a GM. My games do not make use of generative AI for writing, music, or images. Storytelling is a fundamentally human experience, and synthesized plagiarism has no place in my games. I look forward to sharing stories with you! Profile picture created by Neo! What Nathan Patrick Lane brings to the table

āœ… Roll20 Plus game with lots of art, music, handouts, and maps with dynamic lighting! āœ… PDFs for the SWADE Core Rulebook, Deadlands: The Weird West, and the Weird West Companion. āœ… A roleplay-centric experience with a wide variety of challenges! As a GM, I am very familiar with Savage Worlds. I like to work with players rather than against them, and collaborating with players in their aims for grand success or catastrophic failure is something I'm always proud of.

Homebrew rules

These are minor things that I changed in the base rules based on my own experience with the game. 1. Called Shot can be used to trip. On a successful Called Shot to the leg (-2) or the foot (-4), you deal damage as usual and the victim must make an Agility roll (at -2 if the Called Shot was to the foot). On a failure, the target falls prone. 2. When breaking a grapple, Strength can be used without penalty, just like Athletics. 3. Interrupting actions is now an opposed roll of Agility, rather than Athletics. 4. Sliding Hindrances: When your character advances, you may choose to swap out a Hindrance for one of equal value for free. These have to make sense based on the narrative.

Safety

How Nathan Patrick Lane creates a safe table

Before session zero, I'll be private messaging all the players one-on-one to discuss Lines, Veils, and Wishes. Our first session will be a free session zero, wherein we will make introductions, review Lines & Veils, and create characters. We also use a variant of X Card system called Editing Tools. Editing Tools allow players to Pause the game temporarily, Fast Forward through unpleasant content, or Rewind and rewrite the scene to avoid triggering content. At the end of every session, I will run through "Roses, Thorns, and Buds", allowing players to present positive and negative feedback about the game along with suggestions to make the game more enjoyable in the future. Bigotry will not be tolerated in this group. Racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, or other prejudiced behaviors will warrant an immediate kick.
