About the adventure
Under raging storm clouds, a lone figure stands silhouetted against the ancient walls of Castle Ravenloft. The vampire Count Strahd von Zarovich stares down a sheer cliff at the village below. A cold, bitter wind spins dead leaves about him, billowing his cape in the darkness. Lightning splits the clouds overhead, casting stark white light across him. Strahd turns to the sky, revealing the angular muscles of his face and hands. He has a look of power—and of madness. His once handsome face is contorted by a tragedy darker than the night itself. Rumbling thunder pounds the castle spires. The wind’s howling increases as Strahd turns his gaze back to the village. Far below, yet not beyond his ken, a party of adventurers has just entered his domain. Strahd’s face forms a twisted smile as his dark plan unfolds. He knew they were coming, and he knows why they have come—all according to his plan. He, the master of Ravenloft, will attend to them. Another lightning flash rips through the darkness, its thunder echoing through the castle’s towers. But Strahd is gone. Only the howling of the wind—or perhaps a lone wolf—fills the midnight air. The master of Ravenloft is having guests for dinner. And you are invited.

About me
Hello there! I'm Leswarde! I have been GMing for 5+ years for multiple ttrpg systems. D&D 3.5e, Pathfinder 1e, 2e, D&D 5e, Starfinder, and Stars Without Number are just a few of the systems I am familiar with. Now I could tell you all about hypotheticals, about how I think you will enjoy my games, but let's be honest, my style of GMing isn't for everyone. I enjoy digging into the world's lore, players' backstories, and their connections to the villain(s). More than anything i love a good story, a story that my players and I create together. If that sounds like a type of game that you would be interested in, hit me up! Can't wait to see you rolling some dice!

Creating your character
You’ll make your characters independently before the first session; however, if you want to connect backstories with other players, more power to you! The character sheets will be created in Roll20, and any backstory will need to be sent to me so we can go over it together. Here’s the nitty-gritty: Stats: 4d6 drop the lowest, reroll 1s and keep rolling until you have seven stats, then drop the lowest again. Health: Maximum HP on first level, and if your maximum would be below 10, bring it up to 10. Rumors: Create three rumors that others may have heard about you, with them as either truths or lies, whatever you would like. Other specifics will be in the actual server!

What LeSwarde! brings to the table
As a Dungeonmaster, I will bring a Roll20 Subscription, Voicemod Pro, and a style of allowing a lot of player freedom with natural consequences. This campaign will require a lot of mobility and tactical thought when it comes to combat. If you find yourself having a hard time with that, I’m more than happy to work with you to help understand the mechanics. When role-play comes up, I am very poor everyone having their moment to shine. If you are the type of person that interrupts other people, I will ask you to wait your term politely, because I promise you will get your turn eventually. however, if those interruptions continue, I’ll put my foot down and ask you to leave. Besides that, I definitely enjoy the rule of cool far more than pure by the numbers rules
Homebrew rules
A nat 20 in initiative lets you pick your place in imitative after hearing where your teammates go. We use “I Know A Guy” Rules to help keep sessions running smoothly. On a crit, the player gets to maximise one associated dice before rolling. Spells with attack rolls can crit. Monsters have additional abilities I feel makes sense: Cats and lions have 60ft of Darkvision, just like Tabaxi and tigers, Polar bears have cold resistance, so on. Drinking a potion as an action grants full benefit, so full healing potential on a healing potion. Bonus action, you need to roll. No telling each other how much HP you have during combat. However, if you are below half, you are allowed to say that you’re bloodied. Death saving throws are made in private between player and DM, you are not allowed to say what you’re at. I’m not gonna ask you to keep track of your ammunition or spell components underneath 25 gold pieces. However, every time the group goes on a shopping trip or you requested when you’re in a town, I’m going to charge you a “restocking fee” based on your level. Feats can be given out as very specific quest rewards. Being downed and brought back to >0 HP gives you a level of exhaustion. Dying and then being resurrected will mean that you return with a random permanent effect, such as a loss of a limb, curse, or magical effect.

How LeSwarde! creates a safe table
I’ll be doing everything in my power to make sure that everybody at my table will feel safe and secure. I will not tolerate any form of bullying, harassment, or racism, this is a place for us to come together and enjoy ourselves. I cannot make any promises that this campaign will not trigger you, however, I do promise to be as kind and gentle as I can, if you bring any kind of phobia or trauma to me before the campaign starts. And of course, if you ever feel like you need to take a breather, please do not hesitate to let me know that you need to take a step away from the table for as long as you need. This is a game, and I aim to make sure it stays that way.
