About the adventure
A small alpine mining town is struggling to decide its fate. In the aftermath of a dragon attack a year ago, a cult has taken up control of a burned out fort nearby. They search for the horde of the dragon, recruiting townsfolk to dig their secret mineshaft. A mining company is trying to revitalize their efforts. The new foreman has a plan to blow the top off the mountain, threatening to bury the town. The city council fights to maintain control of the increasingly volatile situation. Adventurers will decide the future of the town. Will they help the cultists find the horde? Will they revitalize the mining industry without destroying the town? Can they bring peace to the chaos in the valley? And why do people keep disappearing underground? This game will be a casual, narrative-focused one. Tension and humor are appropriate within reason, as long as fun is the goal. All experience levels are welcome. As such, this will be PG-13.

Meet the Game Master
Less than a year on StartPlaying
About me
I started role-playing in the 90’s and quickly became a Forever GM. After some years away from gaming, I’m ready for more than just reading sourcebooks. My games tend towards mysteries and multilayered plots.

Creating your character
This will be a straight 5.0 game, not 5.5. Characters will start at level 1, and will be created as a group during a free Session 0. We will use the core rulebook, limiting our options to those listed there.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We will use Google Meet for communication and run as theater of the mind. Please plan accordingly. You must be familiar with your character’s abilities and spells. We do not wish to wait around for you to look up the effects, requirements, etc. It is recommended that you have some way to keep notes during the game.
What GM Robert brings to the table
I will attempt to use Rules as Written, however this is my first game in something like 20 years. As such, I welcome healthy debate and friendly reminders about the system. During play there will be no looking up of the rules; I will decide on a course of action after no more than 30 seconds of discussion, then look it up between sessions. I may attempt to use music and voices but I’m not sure if my confidence will stay strong. My biggest goal will be a fun and friendly environment and I am not afraid to enforce it.
Homebrew rules
As mentioned elsewhere, the goal is as little house rules as possible. That being said, I may decide to alter rules that don’t make sense to the game as we play.

Safety
How GM Robert creates a safe table
Session 0 will include a discussion of expectations. Empathy is the greatest virtue to me, so I want to know if something becomes unwanted. We will use a verbal “X, N, O” to adjust on the fly.
